SCOTT'S POV
On the road with Lucas and Cory, we travelled fast and easy to where my heart belongs. With the car windows widely open, I threw the filter tip of my fifth cigarette as I light another. Her absence haunts me, driving me wild. Cutting deep, leaving a void in my life. While letting her go with Roman sounded smart, the time without her suddenly sounded like loss. Whatever it takes, I will get Diana back even if I need to kill an Alpha wolf. I left the town with so many direct orders. Most were angered by my decision for leaving, while more understood my yearning. I can't just give up Diana to Roman. Not for another night.
Roman Brooke.
I know it will be a good fight. One day or the other, the wolves will see a fierce battle of the century between two Alphas over one Luna - something inconceivable but still... will happen in the history of the wolf imprint. Is this still a part of how Alva thought I'd enjoy the full moon? For how much I badly want Diana, I know Roman equally have strong desires for her too. My thoughts came in sharp. Unwanted flashes came to my mind, keeping me restless. I fear that he might push himself on her, forcing Diana to own her heart and body. And for that, I will eternally regret why I agreed on sending Diana to Roman. Running in four wheels, I asked Cory to drive as fast as he could hoping it's not too late.
A few more hours driving down the seemingly endless road, the rain poured, wetting the roads and heavily blurred our path as if stopping us to go forth. Cory kept his eyes head on, peering through the deluge slowing us down. Even the weather sides Roman. Every corner of my mind was filled with random thoughts about my bothersome rival. I remembered the background check my company made on Roman Brooke. Then, my insecurities started to pile up having it known that Roman is one loved Alpha by his people, feared with his good fighting skills and adored with his compelling charm.
What if Diana deserves Roman more than me? What if she prefers an Alpha with less drama and less complications? And what if.. I really turned into a monster.. would she still accept me? Would I still be worthy of Diana's love?
So many what ifs drove me to light another cigarette. Lucas has been coughing nonstop in the back. I've never been a man of doubts, but Roman is certainly not the type that I shouldn't take seriously. Underestimating an enemy would only bring jeopardy. The rain subsides without me knowing. Not losing hope to get Diana, I looked out the window as we come across a broken sign that says - Black Creek Campsite. Cory turned our pick-up truck to the right, and headed to the rutted dirt road.
We have finally arrived.
With only the light from the car headlights casting illumination, we opened up all our senses as we navigate the uneven terrain. The wolves of the Black Creek Clan are known to be fearfully loyal to Roman. The inarguable intention of our arrival may spark a scuffle against a town of wolves at Roman's command. Cautiously, we drove in with enough courage and no fear.
"It should be here somewhere", Cory said, with his eyes glued on the road. It was incredibly muddy, as if we aren't welcome.
"It better be", I mumbled, not minding being shaken inside the car.
The car lurched forward and slid on the moist jagged earth. A few moments later, we can feel the ground thud and hear the music gradually increase in volume. Not too long, we can see strings of light at a distance, sensing the strong scent of wolves. "There! Told you it's here", Cory exclaimed.
"You sure bout this?", Lucas blurted out.
I didn't answer. I'm not here for anything else. I'm here to take my Luna back. Seeing a bunch of camper vans and trailer homes, I felt my elated heart leap out of my chest. One of those mobile homes have my Luna. I then asked Cory to park the car in the middle of the road. "Block everyone who'll leave. And watch out for Diana. ", I told Cory as he kill the engine. "And watch your back".
Lucas and I stepped down of the car, laying our feet on the enemy's territory. We entered the campsite, and slowly revealed more camper vans and trailers circled around like a pack that never slept. The engines were cold, but the presence sharp. Firelight flickered across metal and glass catching eyes - too many eyes. Walking in between mobile homes, I tried so hard to sense Diana's scent. "How can they even talk with each other in this kind of loud sounds?? Mind talk won't work here", Lucas shouted with his hands covering his ears, following my trail.
Then slowly, the wolves appeared. Not all at once. One at the rooftop. Another leaning against a trailer. and another behind a camper van like he'd always been there. They were just... watching. No one welcomed us. No one challenged us either. We were simply allowed in. Then, there's this camper van who caught my eye. It was too familiar, with a lingering scent that reeled me in. When I was about to open the door, a voice came before the man did. "She's not here".
"Where is she?", I turn around and saw Gunner standing right in front of us. Other wolves were already in place surrounding us - above, behind, flanking. They were not closing in. Just... ready.
"She already left with Alpha Roman" Gunner said, not moving an inch.
"I'm not leaving without my Luna", I said, as I darken my eyes.
"Your Luna? Not anymore", Gunner said with a smirk.
