"Nora!" Vera exclaimed as she stepped into the living room and called out to the girl.
"Vera? Really, you came?" the girl said in a falsely surprised voice as she stood up and walked toward her.
They hugged each other without saying anything, and Nora murmured that she missed Vera. Watching this fake affection Nora was putting on made me feel a little embarrassed.
"Why did you run away from us? Why?" Nora muttered during the emotional hug.
As if they weren't the ones who chased her away.
"Well, that's because you supported me aborting my baby," Vera replied. Nora immediately went silent and briefly loosened the hug.
"Nora, meet my husband, Jake," Vera introduced.
"Nice to meet you, Nora," I said, stretching out my hand for a handshake.
Nora looked stunned when she examined me closely, and her face suddenly turned shy and meek. All that earlier energy disappeared.
"N-Nice to meet you too, Jake," she said, shaking my hand.
