Chapter 66 - Storytime With Parkour Knight

The clock slowly ticked back as Kumi and Vaeril reappeared behind their desks.

"I entirely blame you."

Kumi said with a straight expression while Vaeril held his head in his hands while leaning back.

"Kumi. Let's not even start."

"Why? It's the most enjoyable part."

Kumi rolled her chair out of her cubicle.

"I am not in the mood considering I saw my insides launched outside and then slammed into paste right after."

"Meh. Buzzkill."

"It was disgusting. Not as though you've seen anything truly disgusting."

"Oh, I've seen tendrils of rot and flesh and putrid mass spew out of living beings aiming to impale me. So I think that's up there with mushed and mashed bodily gunk."

Kumi said casually while walking over to Vaeril, picking up the cup of shared coffee and sitting down on top of his desk.

"... I don't want to ask."

"Darn. There goes the setup for my great story about survival, death, dragons, heroes demon lords and an overarching plot of romance."

Kumi gave the cup to Vaeril, who snatched it away only to find nothing remaining.

"Now I definitely don't want to know."

"Bad advertising?"

"Sure. Let's go with that."

Vaeril placed the cup on the desk and stretched while Kumi sat down on the desk.

"How about you tell me a story then? Preferably one that isn't a bedtime story or has children's book lore."

"Eh, why not? There isn't much else to be done. Any preferred genre?"

"Geography, History, Current Events, Lore about this planet or world or realm or whatever people believe it to be."

"I am not some teacher and THIS," Vaeril waved his arms around, gesturing at the office space while twirling in his chair, "is definitely not what a school looks like."

"So school doesn't look anything like this. Noted. Oh and before you begin, no philosophy or mythology. Let's stick to real things."

Saying so, Kumi kicked everything but the coffee mug off of Vaeril's table to make more room for herself.

"You don't believe in religion?"

"I don't Know Of any religion and I am not converting because of a story coming from you of all people."

"Yeowch. Well, that hurts. Why-"

"Let's get on with it, Parky. Tell me about the world at large."

Kumi cut Vaeril off as she wagged her finger.

"Fine. Whatever. Anything specific?"

"Nope. Fire freely."

"So, The Realm has 5 continents and a shit ton of ocean. There is the North, where blacksmithing, technology, and metalwork happen. There is the South, that place is nearly entirely filled with the undead and blight and fog and storms. There is the West, where beastkin, elves, druids, mermaids and some other races have a treaty, that place also has the World Tree, the source of one of the religions and, if the rumours are to be believed, a weird forest at the Western Front."

"This 'World Tree' is it just a big tree? If there is a religion about it then shouldn't it be a God or something?"

"It is definitely a lot more than just a big tree, Kumi. I personally don't think it's a God but I can't say I'm sure about that either way since it is the only standing 'Proof' of something greater than anything mortal or man-made."

"Weird. I'll have to visit at some point. I'll drag you along too."

"If you need a translator then get someone else. I'll be busy if and when I get out of here."

"Translator? They speak some other language there?"

"The Archaic Tongue, The Language With No Name. That's what they speak there. We both are currently speaking the Common Tongue. The Infernal Tongue also exist but isn't used as much. And that's the three languages of the lands. Can I Please continue and finish off the Geography lesson?"

"Not sure why it's called The Language With No Name when it's named the Archaic Tongue but whatever. Go on."

Vaeril rolled backwards and placed his legs on Kumi's empty chair.

"Yeah, yeah. Thank you ever so much for the permission. I was talking about the West, yeah?"

"And finished talking about the West."

"Right, so North, South, West then East. They have their own continent. Biotech is quite a theme there. When I was out and about then the East was widely known as the forefront of basically everything. If it hasn't collapsed then it should still be at the top of military, monetary, technological and other lists."

"I already know all your info is dated. No need to dawdle. Any Gods in the East?"

"None as far as I know. The continent does have quite the natural safety mechanism though, interestingly enough the whole continent is surrounded by a few kilometres of lethal reeds."

"Goodness. So cool. I'll learn about those when I visit. Just keep giving me a run down. Oh, and mention any 'Gods' that I can see and visit too."

Kumi waved him off as she rolled her eyes.

Only to point straight at him when she mentioned 'Gods'.

"Right, right. There aren't any more 'Gods' but I'll move on. The last continent is the Central continent. It is the Eternal Neutral Ground and holds The Tower at its centre."

"I know I told you to just give me a run down but now you're just keeping all the interesting stuff to yourself."

"Yes."

"Oh, come on! Give me something!"

"No. Talk about continents is over now."

Vaeril crossed his arms with a smug grin.

"Ugh. Fine. Whatever. You mentioned the amount of water a moment ago?"

"Right. I did."

"Elaborate on that."

"That I'll do, but we'll go on another run after this."

Vaeril smiled wickedly as if he had just tricked a toddler into eating vegitables.

"Yeah. Fine. Sure. Child Labor. Cool."

"Ignoring that. There have been numerous studies done and all of them came to the conclusion that our 5 Continents don't even hold 30 percent of the total area of the realm. Considering all the ocean surrounding us that we have explored, that's less than 60 or so percent of the world that we have explored. All surface level mind you. "

" So could there be more continents? "

"I doubt it. Besides the estimates could be wrong."

"On Multiple Studies?"

"Could be a coincidence?"

"What if there are more though?"

"Then, when we find them, it will be a New Era of exploration!"

Vaeril nearly stood from his chair, excitement and thrill evident in his eyes as the volume of his voice increased.

"That sounds like a great part of history to take part in."

"It does! Doesn't it!?"
