Cain saw something that did not make sense.
It was something that should not have existed within a phenomenon like the Endless River, the embodiment of the Flow.
"A core?"
A small frown appeared on his face.
The Flow was supposed to embody the interconnection of all things, a force in which every event, every life, every action, and every consequence held value within an infinite web of causality. Nothing within it should have been bound to a single point, because the very nature of the Flow was movement, connection, and endless continuity.
Yet the Red King's Endless River had a focus.
At its center floated a small red core no larger than an apple, yet despite its modest size, it generated a pull powerful enough to control every stream within this artificial river. All currents were forced to pass through it, revolving constantly in an endless cycle as though the entire phenomenon existed only to empower and obey that single point.
Cain's eyes narrowed as he stared at it.
