Chapter 9 - Situation Reverse

The city walls started getting crowded, as rows upon rows of soldiers and citizens stared at the new residents of Sky Mountain.

Nathaniel stood in front of the large creature that looked subdued, looking down as if it's a child that got caught doing something wrong.

Nathaniel spoke a language that felt like second nature to him, a language that had always been in his head that he couldn't use so casually.

The area around him shook as he opened his mouth.

"DII FIN KIIR?"

The dragon sat there blinking as he understood nothing of what Nathaniel said.

"Do you not understand this language?" He asked?

"Forgive this one, Lord Immortal, for I do not comprehend…" The dragon spoke with a confused head tilt.

"Hmm…" Nathaniel hummed as he and the others were quite shocked by this revelation.

"Fascinating! So these lizards in this world understand nothing of the dragon tongue of nirn?!" Arniel chimed in as he wrote on his notebook fervently.

The hard scales on the dragon's face suddenly twitched as it glared at Arniel, while the mage didn't seem to realize it offended a fearsome being.

"What is your name?" Nathaniel asked with a smile.

"You may call this one Mushan, Lord Immortal." The dragon spoke.

"Very well Mushan, why do you come to this kingdom? Are you simply here for destruction? Maybe a meal?"

"There have been forces that disturbed the balance in Terra, along with my kin I have come to seek this."

"By targeting this city?" Nathaniel asked with a raised brow.

"…yes." The dragon answered confusedly. Wondering why ask such a question, destruction is in their nature. Mercy? Consideration? Empathy?

The dragon kind has never shown it, it is not known in their language and culture.

It is the same way a man would step on a bug or an ant and not feel a thing for it.

Why care for such small creatures when there are bigger things to worry about?

Plus it was justified in their eyes, considering their history between them.

"You said you have others that will be coming?" Felldir asked the same question King Marco is wracking his brain with.

"Yes, Lord Immortal. I have bested them, my wings soar faster and stronger than those weaklings." Mushan said proudly.

"…so they're weaker than you?" Gormlaith asked deflatedly.

"Yes."

"Hmmmm." Nathaniel sighed. "Very well, we have much to talk about."

"Gormlaith, I leave the dragons to you." He then turned to the dragon in front of him. "As for you…"

"Take us there."

Nathaniel pointed towards the mountain as he casually hopped onto the dragon, seeing that the others followed right after excluding Gormlaith.

The dragon trembled, anger rose in its scaled body but it only ended up helplessly.

Under the eyes of everyone, the dragon flew out with two dragonborns, a mage and a king as they exclaimed, surprised that the situation was…shorter and underwhelming than expected.

Gormlaith took control of the guards along with the royal commander and set up defenses and watched for the so-called dragons that were said to arrive soon.

Lucien dipped into his shadows, and returned to whatever he did around in there.

"What is your history? How do you dragons fit into this world's history?" Felldir asked as everyone sat around the fire cooking as the dragon sat clumsily towards the side.

Arniel had one of his research books out ready to record what he can to learn more of this fascinating world.

"We are dragons, descended from the primordial being himself. The primordial being had five offspring which started the line of five tribes but only one successor for the place of Prime Dragon."

"The war of five tribes has been fought for millenias, longer than when man became man. Before the fae integrated with monkeys and came the elves and man, the dragons roamed the skies and mountains of Terra."

"You creatures were mere food to dragons, livestock. Until your ancestors rose and fought us, the audacity!" Mushan growled, forgetting that the handful of beings listening to his story could slay him with a backhand.

"Faes and monkeys? Sir dragon…are you suggesting that the elves and man came from procreating?" King Marco asked skeptically.

"I do not suggest, wyrmkin!" The dragon growled at the king. "Your stories of your gods came from your ancestors, false! You claim to have descended from beings of higher power, foolish! You have no gods to speak of in Terra!"

King Marco seemed troubled, it is hard to believe but dragons are the only beings that could live as long as an elf could and there would be no reason for it to lie.

"Continue, as you were saying?" Nathaniel urged the large creature.

"Yes, immortal."

"Man and elves fought our ancestors, the five tribes, futile, it was! Long ago the dragons of the five tribes were unbreakable, no monkeys, faes, imps or even nephiles could contend with our tribes back then…"

Mushan slowed down, as if he stopped to calm himself from what he was about to say.

"That is, until those foul demons walked onto Terra with their darkness, daring to swallow Terra herself."

"Demons…I know this, I believe this was one of many times all species in Terra formed its first unity to banish the demons." King Marco chimed in with realization.

"Yes…faes, monekys, nephiles, imps, the chimerens and even those sea creatures were forced to realize the threat the demons bring." Mushan dragged along, in his own thoughts.

"Were you there at the time?" Nathaniel asked.

"I was not, my begetter was but an egg at that era."

"Were these demons really a threat that the entirety of Terra banded together?" Arniel questioned.

It reminded him of a certain era in Tamriel as well.

"They were, in that first era that they appeared, the demons walked every inch of Terra. Every species was engulfed with the foul destruction the demons bring."

ROOOAAAAAARRRRRRRR

Mushan roared thunderously, anger rose as smoke escaped its jaws and nostrils.

"The five tribes ceased their war, the primordial being had vanished from the clutches of Terra. It is said that the Monarchs of the demons schemed their way towards the Primordial Being and seized him!"

"The five tribes faced the demons and their Monarchs only to fall in battle, faced with no choice the five tribes allied with the lesser beings to face them on."

"And they finally perished?" Arniel asked.

"No." Mushan bellowed.

"Demons are relentless, they come out of their gates of netherland in abundance. Their power is purely destructive and tricky. In their realm they have their own hierarchal system, from the smallest wretch to their own Monarchs they move in order."

"The battles took centuries…the war that the union of Terra brought together against the Netherlands was futile. Until the Five Draconic Tribes, Five Human Nations, Two Elven Houses, 7 Colossal Tribes, Four Dwarven Kingdoms, The BeastKin King and even those Foul Creatures of the sea gathered to form Terra's first Divine Relic."

"The Aegis of Unity." Mushan grumbled out.

King Marco shot up to his feet in shock.

"That's impossible! The Aegis of Unity is a Divine Relic of Humanity forged by our people to King Adam to fight off—"

"LIES!" Mushan breathed flames in anger. "Your ancestor Adam tricked the six species into enchanting the Divine Spear into his sole use!"

"The enchantment forbids anyone but a wretched man to hold it, the only reason your foolish ancestor led the battle is because of his pathetic schemes to hold the spear himself!!"

"HOLD YOUR TONGUE DRAGON! You speak of our god!"

"He is no god, but a scheming trickster!" The dragon bellowed out.

Snap

Nathaniel snapped his finger as a calming spell spread towards the two, successfully calming them down.

"King Marco's claims of Adam being god and the Divine Spear is not unfounded." Arniel chimed in. "From what I've read, humanity has banded together to craft this Aegis of Unity to not only face the other species but against the demons as well. And that this Adam was a divine being that descended onto Terra to lead humanity."

"So this Adam is a god?" Hakon asked with a raised brow.

"Well some history books claim it is so, yet it stays inconsistent. Some records say he is just a man, a pheasant rose to royalty. Some say he is the first man to walk Terra and some records claim he is an immortal who always fights for humanity before turning into a god." Arniel said with a sigh. "I can not say for sure."

"HAH!" Hakon laughed off at the inaccuracy of human history.

"This…spear, it was powerful enough to banish the demons?" He asked curiously.

"It was, the Aegis of Unity carries the power and trait of all Seven Species. With it, the unity slayed three demonic Monarchs and banished the demons, sealing them from stepping onto Terra no longer."

"Yet I hear this was not the first time that the demons stepped onto Terra…" Felldir asked.

"Yes…that was the first of the demon's attempts, as well as one of three times they bore ambitions in Terra."

"When the demons walked Terra the second time was due to humans dabbling in the demonic realms." The Dragon grumbled out.

"I find it hard to believe, when it was us who banished those vile demons the second time." King Marco glared at the dragon.

"I do not deny that, but you humans scheme so much that you turned against each other. It is said that humanity turned against your ancestor Adam, to obtain the Spear he was killed off using the demons of netherlands."

King Marco shot up once more, the wind around him surged as if he was prepared to take on the dragon for his slander.

"You people hunted down the draconians and giants the moment you had the chance…" Mushan growled as his giant head moved closer to King Marco intimidatingly.

"The moment your ancestor fell, slayed by his own kin, you used the Divine Spear to wage war against us, the giants and the Dwarves and nearly wiped out each of our people."

"Had we not banded together you would have succeeded."

"Lies." King Marco denied, his entire upbringing —no, humanities entire upbringing— is brought up with the belief that the Dragons, Giants and Dwarves majority of the time were mindless destructive beings who seek only the end of humanity.

Yet here, a dragon spoke clearly to his shock, not as mindless as he thought they were.

"Humans, elves and those beasts hunted us like cattles, it is only right that we pay back our dues."

"What of the third time the demons came?" Nathaniel brought back the topic.

"That in itself is a mystery, the demons didn't arrive bringing a fight. Rather they appeared in the Southeast and brought a new species into Terra."

"The orcs." King Marco muttered.

"They…brought a new species?" Nathaniel asked as he and the other looked confusedly.

"The Orcs are dark beings, their population overfilling the territories of Banamalia, the land of beas kins." King Marco spoke of what he knew. "They multiply like goblins and have no end to their populations."

"Navarath used to be part of Babamalia, the beastkins territory which used to only border the Andrilanna Isles."

"But the Orcs, in their numbers and dark powers, pushed the beastkins out of their own territory and claimed it as theirs. They could do nothing about it." King Marco said regrettably.

"Because you dared not offer your aid to your own allies." Mushan said as he eyed King Marco with blame.

"They were too far for our people to travel!" King Marco shouted.

"You had your ways." Mushan grumbled. "Even the elves, who bordered the Andrilanna Isles could have offered aid, yet they too stayed quiet."

"So this Divine Spear…" Nathaniel asked curiously, if he had it he would want to compare it to the weapons he had in his arsenal. "Do humans still have it?"

Mushan didn't speak, instead he turned towards King Marco indicating he didn't know.

"I…" King Marco was speechless, why would someone like him know where a Divine treasure would be.

"From what records I've scoured, the Divine Spear has been passed around from powerful figures and families throughout history, but at some point the records halted and the Divine relic has been lost for a while now." Arniel gathered.

"Typical." Mushan commented much to King Marco's dismay.

"Hahaha." Nathaniel laughed before calling out. "Lucien."

*Whoroosh*

A puddle of darkness appeared on the ground near Nathaniel as Lucien appeared out of it.

"Lord Nathaniel."

"Lucien, I want you to do some research on a Divine Relic—a spear— called The Aegis of Unity. Get with Arniel later on for more details. After you have enough information, come find me." Nathaniel said.

"Yes, Lord Nathaniel."
