Chapter 137: Permanent Interest
Talk about peace after the war, Raiken remembered in the original series, especially after the Fourth Great Ninja War.
The world finally entered a long-awaited era of peace, it was not a fragile or temporary calm of peace but a stability built on two powerful foundations that reshaped the entire shinobi world.
Thanks to Obito and Madara, who became antagonists during the war, the ninja from 5 great nation finally united under one banner and for the first time, they saw the real power of Konoha Shinobi.
Especially from Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke, the presence of two individuals that could topple any village with ease.
Together, they stood at the peak of power, acting as a deterrent against any nation or hidden village that might consider starting another conflict and war.
Naruto, as the jinchūriki of the Nine Tails, possessed strength that could rival entire armies, while Sasuke, wielding the Rinegan, had abilities that could easily absorb, dispel any jutsu and much more.
No Kage or Daimyo was foolish enough to challenge them directly because of this, even the most aggressive villages chose restraint over their own ambition. War was no longer seen as a viable option but as a guaranteed path to destruction.
The second reason was because of the economy, with the end of war, trade routes reopened and stability returned to the markets and because of Naruto, the merchant of 5 great villages is getting free pass and more access to the other land.
Not only Konoha, who become rich even Sunagakure benefitted a lot from this trade route.
During wartime, the first things that are impacted the most is economy, supply and food. Trade would stop immediately, resources would become scarce and prices would rise uncontrollably. Raiken could not help but compare it to his previous world, where conflicts in one region could ripple outward and affect entire nations on earth
For example, when a major oil-producing region was attacked, the price of oil could surge to over one hundred dollars per gallon. Once fuel prices increased, everything else followed food, clothing, transportation. The burden would fall heavily on ordinary people and those who started the war would always blame it on another nation.
With the slogan, we wanted them to stop from producing Mass Weapon Of Destruction.
The shinobi world was no different, even if Sunagakure is at war with Kirigakure. It still affects the price in Konoha.
But now, in peace, everything changed. Trade flourished once again, businesses expanded rapidly and new industries began to emerge. Markets grew like mushrooms after the rain, filling the world with opportunity and abundance.
With resources readily available, even civilians began to innovate. One of the most notable advancements was the development of the Thunder Train, a revolutionary mode of transportation that connected distant lands and made trade faster and more efficient than ever before.
This era of prosperity marked the beginning of what many would later call the Boruto generation.

Raiken felt a slight discomfort just thinking about it.

To preserve his sanity, he chose to believe in a different interpretation, that everything before Naruto The Last is all canon timeline, and after that it was merely an illusion. A dream world created by Madara, where peace existed only because Madara had won the war.

"I believe if we open trade routes to other countries and also increase the grain and food we produce each year, then peace could last longer," said Raiken.
"What?" The sound of disbelief can be heard, they didn't expect Raiken to talk about peace that lasts longer, something they never thought was possible before.
"There are no permanent enemies and no permanent friends, only permanent interests," said Raiken again.
"No permanent enemies and friends, only permanent interest," muttered Shikajin, and his eyes lit up because he got what Raiken meant.
While others inside the office blinked didn't understand what Raiken had just said.
"Let me rephrase a bit, take Sunagakure for an example," said Raiken. "Their village are so poor with low humidity and the weather that is not suitable for planting crops. If Konoha give them a lot of food, would they attack us during the war?"
Some didn't get what Raiken said, "Do we need to give them food?"
"Please answer my question first," said Raiken while looking at the man who just questioned him.
"No... they won't attack us," answered one of them.
"Correct, by opening the trade route and also digging the canal, it is the same as giving them food. We can hire their civilians, and this would enrich the land of wind at the same time, it would make their Kazekage think twice about whether to attack Konoha or not, because if they attack us, then their people will lose the job," said Raiken. "This is what I mean by permanent interest."

It started from one person and spread to another, and finally everyone inside the room also clapped their hands at the same time.
They never heard a solution that is so simple that it can end the war and prevent future conflict.

Hearing this Raiken eyes became grimmed a bit, this 3 village are the one who attacked the Uzumaki Clan, and he let their Kage survived to prevent chaos on the other land.
Although he really wanted to kill the third Raikage, he felt that letting them live would be more beneficial to Konoha.
