Cheska narrowed her gaze, staring intensely at the man across from her. For a second, she genuinely thought she was hallucinating. "Who did you say is leaving?"
"Belle."
"Right. Belle is leaving your house."
"Hn."
Cheska closed her eyes and swiftly looked away, desperately trying to suppress the massive grin threatening to split her face. Eli looked so utterly bewildered, laying out his world-shattering crisis with the innocence of a child. She really didn't want to laugh at him.
"I see. So that's the reason," she murmured, covering the lower half of her face with her hand under the guise of deep sympathy. In truth, it was the only way to hide her mocking smile.
"I just don't understand it," Eli muttered, staring blankly at his desk. "Why would she rather leave than stay with me? It's a perfectly logical bargain. It makes complete sense for her."
