Chapter 268 - Chapter 268 - Euron, the Crow’s Eye.

[Chapter Size: 2500 Words.]

Third Person POV.

Winterfell.

...

...

King's Landing was not the only place hosting a lively banquet at this moment; Winterfell was also celebrating since Bran spoke of the victory to some people, who passed it on through the castle. Although everyone always suspected that Bran Stark had some mystical abilities, since he always delivered information from the south faster than any raven, no one said much.

Meanwhile, the Stark family and their allies were gathered in the main hall. At the high table sat Daenerys, Lucis, Arya, Bran, Rickon, Shireen, and Stannis's wife, Selyse, who, as always, was never in a good mood—yet she was present.

Bran was recounting the details of what he saw, with Arya filling the air with questions, while Daenerys watched with curiosity, touching her already quite swollen belly as she listened to the heroic or nearly suicidal things Daemon had done.

Entering in the midst of an enemy army? What was he doing? Even for him, she couldn't help but feel fear and concern. She could also feel Lyanna's ghost, which was already almost disappearing at this moment, growing irritated with her son.

"That's so cool! Even cooler than what you told yesterday! When he defeated a dragon! I still can't believe he defeated the dragon and tamed another!" Arya spoke excitedly, while the others nodded.

"Daemon said what he was going to do with that black dragon?" Rickon asked from the side.

"He's going to bring it to the north!" Arya answered before Rickon could continue. "Think about it, after he took the green dragon for himself, he left the black dragon aside during the war, which means he intends to give the dragon to Dany!" Arya continued.

Daenerys couldn't help but feel a bit nervous about that. Arya's logic was sound, even if Bran hadn't heard this from Daemon yet; he had kept the dragon aside for a reason.

Daemon now had two dragons, not just one. He was the first Targaryen to ride an ice dragon in history—not just a Targaryen, a Valyrian! And now he also possessed a fire dragon. And after defeating and subjugating the black dragon, he intended to give it to her.

Even before hearing about Blackfyre, Daenerys already expected Winter to hatch some eggs. If she couldn't have an ice dragon hatchling because she was only a Targaryen, at least her children could have one with Daemon's blood, since she knew Winter was very different from the traditional dragons of Valyria.

But now she would have a dragon—if the dragon accepted her as its rider, although that didn't seem like something she should worry about, right? After seeing everything Daemon had done over these years, she believed she could manage it, even if she faced difficulties. He would help her establish a bond with that black dragon.

And when the dragons hatched eggs, they would belong to their children. Daenerys couldn't help but drink her wine, fantasizing about this future scenario.

"Do you think we're going to King's Landing already? Like, we're going too, right? At least it's no longer the Lannisters who will be in that place. I'm sure Daemon changed everything completely and we can see father and Robb!" Arya continued, in an excited tone.

"We're not going. Daemon is still planning to come to the North. The war against the dead is approaching," Bran was the one who spoke this time.

"That's true..." Arya murmured, remembering. "Do you think I can take part?" she said quietly.

"You really don't give up, huh?" Lucis's words made the girl stick her tongue out, and Lucis simply shook his head while Daenerys laughed.

Shireen's mother remained silent throughout the conversation, while Shireen herself whispered with Rickon beside her.

Everything was going well, until one of the Stark men approached urgently.

"My queen..." he said, reaching the high table and bowing. He didn't fail to glance at the Starks for a moment before turning his attention back to Daenerys. "There is an unknown direwolf at the castle entrance. It is not one of the King's wolves or Lord Bran's or Lord Rickon's... at the same time, it is one of the king's wolves." The man spoke, catching everyone by surprise.

The giant wolves, Ghost, Summer, and Shaggydog lying behind the high table lifted their heads, as if they understood those words.

That made Arya immediately jump up. "Could it be Nymeria? What color is the wolf?" she said, already leaving the table and running, circling around as she went down the stairs.

"It's gray, my lady!" someone replied.

"It's her! It has to be! Daemon said he would bring her!" She didn't think twice and ran off.

Everyone looked at each other as the hall fell silent for a moment, until some began to stand and the wolves started following, with Ghost passing everyone.

Arya ran through the entrance and, stepping outside, saw the night lit only by torches, both from the castle and the walls.

There was a small commotion at the entrance.

Some of the wolves that Daemon had left in the area where they slept were gathering at the entrance, even pushing away the guards who didn't know what to do. Even Ghost, who had been inside the hall, came along with Arya.

"Do you think it's her, Ghost?" Arya said excitedly as she kept running.

The Stark soldiers were cautious at every corner, while Ghost's mere presence made all the wolves begin to calm down. Arya continued forward until she saw her.

Nymeria stood there, bigger than she remembered.

Her wolf.

Not nearly as large as Ghost, but a Nymeria much bigger than before. She had no doubts. There was a pack of smaller wolves behind—at least a dozen—and other wolves standing around, watching everything.

Nymeria was at the front, facing the wolves, and Ghost stopped closer than the others and watched in silence.

Arya could sense a bit of hesitation and fear in the she-wolf's gaze, with a hint of distrust in her eyes. But she didn't care, she simply ran.

Nymeria stared at her, and Arya stopped very close to her. The she-wolf bared her teeth as she saw her approaching so quickly, which made Arya hesitate for a moment.

"Nymeria... it's me," she said, in a pleading tone.

Nymeria stayed there, staring into her eyes without looking away for several seconds.

"It's me, Nymeria... please. Daemon sent you back to me... please," the girl begged, letting a few tears fall.

Nymeria lifted her nose and began to sniff.

"Please..." Arya looked at the ground, afraid that the she-wolf no longer recognized her—or held resentment for what she had done to protect her.

But soon she felt the snout against her, before feeling the she-wolf's rough tongue licking her face.

Arya raised her gaze, stunned.

"Nymeria... do you remember me?" she murmured, before stepping forward and hugging the she-wolf tightly.

"I'm so happy you came back to me..." the girl said, burying her face in the she-wolf's fur.

She then looked to the side when another shadow approached. It was Ghost observing Nymeria, his red eyes seeming to recognize her.

Nymeria also turned her attention to him, remembering her brother from the litter. Ghost stepped toward her with long strides.

A bit farther away, Bran moved forward right behind, followed by Rickon, while Daenerys, with Barristan Selmy accompanying the queen, as well as Lyanna and even little Shireen, were coming out of the castle at that moment to see the wolf, surrounded by soldiers and other direwolves.

"Look over there, Nymeria!" Rickon said, his tone full of excitement, while everyone watched and recognized her before Arya had taken her to King's Landing.

"It's true... you found her," Bran said, with Summer and Shaggydog coming behind the two. They also approached.

Nymeria stood among all her siblings, remaining by Arya's side, not letting her take a single step away. Ghost licked her and she returned the gesture. An act of recognition, and the other wolves, her other siblings, also came closer.

"Arya, you can let her go. She's not going anywhere," Bran said.

But Arya seemed to refuse.

"This is very beautiful to see..." Lyanna's voice sounded beside Daenerys, who was also watching from a distance.

Daenerys displayed a slight smile. "Yes... it's like you Starks say, isn't it? The pack has grown."

"You learn quickly," Lyanna murmured, satisfied.

What no one expected was the next sound coming from the sky at that very moment.

-ROOAAARRRR-

A roar echoed.

Everyone—even the wolves—looked up at the dark sky.

"What is that? By the gods... that's a dragon!"

"Is it the king's same dragon? But he isn't in King's Landing!"

"He brought a dragon here?"

Questions came one after another, with no one able to understand that roar.

Bran took a step forward. "It's the dragon Daemon summoned," he said, looking at Daenerys. "He's heading to the Wall. This dragon... is different from the ones you know. I heard he has the ability to speak the human tongue and does not belong to this world. Daemon summoned him and the sky opened before he appeared..."

Daenerys couldn't help but be surprised and curious. She had already heard about this from Bran, but it was still very impressive, making her wonder how Daemon could still have yet another dragon.

Daenerys tried to spot the dragon in the sky, but all she could see was darkness. He was nowhere they could see.

No one said anything more about it, because the dragon did not stop at any moment. He simply continued north.

Meanwhile, at the Night's Watch...

Now that there were so many men, the Watch itself could relocate them to the old castles. One of them was also being used on the west coast to search for any activity of the White Walkers, by order of Jeor Mormont, the Lord Commander, who was still in charge while they rebuilt the castle.

While they used part of the structure to hold out, numerous ships were spotted advancing across the sea toward the coast.

This set off an alert throughout the place.

When they saw the banners of the ironborn advancing forcefully straight toward them, action was immediate.

"Inform the Lord Commander immediately!"

Some men were sent on horseback to Castle Black, while at the same time many ironborn who had been forcibly sent to the Wall or would be executed after Daemon conquered the Iron Islands—and even some traitors from the North—reacted to the opportunity, creating a mutiny against the order itself.

For the ironborn, it was simple. They had been condemned to the Wall. And now... their own people were coming to rescue them.

And a mutiny began, betraying the very vows made to the old gods upon joining the Night's Watch.

And that prevented the still loyal men from escaping.

As if that weren't enough.

The ships finally docking on the shore and thousands of men disembarking, but something happened.

-ROAAAARRR-

A roar made the Wall tremble, even causing the men inside the castle under reconstruction to stop.

All eyes turned to the sky.

A cream-colored dragon appeared, descending as it spewed fire to mark its presence. It flew very close to the castle, circling it, until it finally landed right in front.

A man rode it, looking with complete satisfaction at the fools of the Night's Watch. "This is power... this is what I sought!" Euron Greyjoy announced, looking at the starry sky, laughing like a maniac atop that dragon.

It was the first time he had used the dragon since leaving Oldtown. He had already seen its power when he began burning that city, after stealing it from that foolish Blackfyre who tried to stop him from looting—in truth, he had planned it because he saw in his visions that the Blackfyre would come to him.

He had to sacrifice his niece, Asha, for this. But it was worth it.

All for his lord.

Now, he needed to destroy the Wall.

Because he had a debt with the god on the other side of this wall of ice, just waiting for him.

He watched his men advance with full fury, entering the castle and massacring the members of the Night's Watch who were still loyal—even some who could not tell one from another, killing their own ironborn wearing black, but none of that mattered to Euron.

Euron was not there to save them. He was going to use them.

He saw some people running, managing to leave the castle. His dragon roared with fury and soon took flight, advancing dozens of meters, frightening those "little rats" before spewing fire and killing them instantly.

"Fantastic! This is power!" Euron continued to shout, as he watched more men being killed.

"We have already cleared the stronghold, my lord!" a man said cautiously as he approached the dragon; that dragon had eaten some of them in recent days and Euron did not care.

"Then now we move to Castle Black! Our goal is to destroy the Wall. At its center there is a core—after that, the entire Wall, from east to west, will collapse," Euron said, as his men prepared.

Nothing could stop him now.

And once he had that cold god by his side, not even the dragons of the south—of which he still did not know what had happened—could deal with him.

Euron had made his travels over the years. He learned blood magic through torturing sorcerers and mages he captured near Asshai.

He discovered forbidden arts, and it was at that moment that he managed to form a connection with the Night King. The Night King granted him even more power.

He even went to Valyria. There, he obtained the horn that controls dragons.

With some sacrifices, the horn would work.

And that had already been proven... when he took this dragon in Oldtown.

So now, with that structure containing only corpses, he made the dragon approach, finally able to use his powers.

He removed his eyepatch, revealing a bright blue eye. He looked at all those bodies and pointed his hand.

The corpses began to move.

In the next moment, blue eyes opened.

That frightened many of the ironborn who had freed themselves, but only those who were not accustomed to his powers—since there were piles and piles of corpses on the ships as well.

He had become a necromancer of winter, ever since the Night King had granted him his powers through a connection formed between them.

And now, he needed to help his master.

He needed to destroy the Wall.

With this dragon, it was more than enough.

"Come... let's go to Castle Black and help freeze and cleanse the world made of sinners," he announced.

Then he closed his eye again.

Hundreds of corpses now walked alongside the ironborn. And despite the distrust and horror that everyone felt, no one said anything.

They simply followed his orders.
