Third Person POV.
Winterfell.
...
...
Daemon went to the workshop where Gendry was working after the first meal. When his presence was noticed by the young blacksmith, he immediately bowed along with the other men working there, since the place needed more people.
"Your Majesty," he said with a bow.
"Hello, Gendry. Do you remember the things I asked for? Even though it's only been a few days," Daemon said.
Not much time had passed since he had made that request to the boy, and it seemed it had been fulfilled quickly.
"Of course, Your Majesty. Just a moment," he said as he went to a separate box beneath a cabinet.
Then he took out all the items Daemon had requested: the reins and the safety device he intended to use along with the springs. Daemon looked at the creation and picked up some of the metal pieces.
"Well, honestly, I didn't expect you to finish everything so quickly." He praised.
"I finished it yesterday afternoon, Your Majesty. To tell the truth," he replied.
Meanwhile, Daemon examined the parts. The springs had been made thanks to the molds he had provided.
"Well, this will make things easier," Daemon said.
This wasn't mainly for him, but also for his wife and future children. The Targaryens were somewhat crazy for flying dragons without these things, so they needed at least a minimum level of safety. After all, difficult maneuvers could push the body to its limits.
Daemon couldn't understand how the Targaryens had never had problems with this before. Like when you had to dive at high speed and then suddenly pull up into the sky. That should hurt them somehow.
He himself would have to fill those springs with magic to reinforce them, since steel alone would not be enough. He would also make the reins more resistant so they wouldn't bend or break under pressure. In the end, despite the force applied, everything would be reinforced with magic.
"Well then, I'll take these." Daemon placed everything into his dimensional space.
"I heard you brought Sansa Stark to the castle, Your Majesty," Gendry said when he noticed him looking around the workshop curiously.
He still hadn't had the chance to talk to anyone about it yet. Daemon looked at him and nodded.
"Yes. You must have seen her yesterday."
"Arya will be happy," Gendry said.
Daemon shrugged. "She is. She misses her sister."
Daemon remembered Sansa kneeling before the entire hall that morning to give thanks. He had been only minimally courteous. He did not despise his own blood, but neither had he made any effort to show her warmth.
Sansa seemed to understand that, but she said nothing. She simply acted accordingly.
Daemon had to admit that she had learned a thing or two in King's Landing, living surrounded by snakes. She had begun to hide her true sides.
Not that he cared much. Sansa had a neutral aura. There was neither a red nor a black aura around her through the ability he possessed now, but neither was there a golden aura. She certainly wasn't someone he could fully trust, especially considering who had taught her.
Littlefinger, Cersei, and the rest of the snakes of King's Landing. Nothing good ever came from that.
That was why he would leave Sansa in the care of House Stark. They would decide her future. Meanwhile, Daemon would take Bran to King's Landing. Rickon could also be taken south, after all, he would have no lands or titles for the time being, and Daemon still had to speak with Stannis about his daughter, Shireen.
She and Rickon got along well, perhaps a little too well... but that was a matter for another time.
They also already knew that his father was currently on Dragonstone. He would stop there and become lord soon. Before coming to the North, he would spend some time enjoying the luxuries of that place.
In any case, Daemon left Gendry's workshop to find Lucis, who was waiting for him. While spending some time with her, he came across the youngsters in front of the dragons outside and headed there with Lucis.
Arya, Rickon, Shireen, and the others were there playing. Sansa was also on the castle walls with some guards, watching everything as Daemon approached the children.
He passed by them, refusing Arya's request to get closer to the dragons. He left Lucis with them and found Barristan Selmy farther ahead. After passing everyone, he approached Daenerys, who was petting her dragon. They were having their first meal of the day.
"How can you stand this smell?" Daemon asked. The place already reeked because of the carcasses left behind by the black dragon over the past few days.
"Well, it smells now, but you get used to it. When he finishes eating, they clean the place with fire," she said, grabbing Daemon's arm.
Daemon looked at her and nodded. "Hm...."
He stayed there for a while watching.
"Winter seems happy." Viridrax and Winter were nearby, while the black dragon seemed somewhat dissatisfied. Unlike the white one, she appeared much more at ease.
"We're in the North. It's the perfect habitat for an ice dragon. Fire dragons, on the other hand, certainly aren't in much of a hurry to stay here. At least they're not used to it," Daemon mused.
"Are you heading south already?" she then asked.
Daemon nodded. "Yes. My men are marching through the Vale. I should accompany them on that journey. I'll leave tomorrow."
She nodded as well. "I understand."
In any case, as he had promised the previous night, Daemon spent some time with Daenerys. Afterward, he joined Arya and went hunting for a while with Bran in the middle of the afternoon, accompanied by a few guards.
Without using any of his powers, only his hunting skills, since that was also a hobby of his.
"I'm sure you're not using your magical abilities, Your Majesty," Bran couldn't resist teasing him.
Daemon showed a smile as he looked at the ground. "No, of course not. I have abilities that allow me to see every living animal within a certain area. That would simply do all the work, but I don't like cheating when I want to hunt as a hobby."
Daemon explained. "I learned a lot from Aela, in Skyrim. She was one of them, an archer as beautiful as she was dangerous. She taught me many things about hunting..." Daemon said, remembering those times.
Yes, Aela. The woman who was part of the Companions. She became interested in him and came to speak with him after he helped defeat a giant that had been troubling the farms around Whiterun, shortly after what happened in Helgen and Alduin's first appearance.
"I see," Bran said.
The two continued hunting. In the end, they caught some prey here and there, but the real prize was the stag that Daemon himself hunted.
From the moment he found the first tracks, he even refused Ghost's help. He personally tracked the animal through the woods until he found it.
In any case, dinner that night was quite generous, and he slept with Daenerys once again before, in the morning, preparing to leave.
He said goodbye to everyone.
"Thank you for bringing my sister home. House Stark will never forget that," Bran said.
Daemon merely waved a hand. "I've already said it doesn't matter," he replied.
As for Sansa, his father had asked him to do it, so he simply kept his word.
"Anyway, I'm leaving."
He said goodbye to the last few people and exited through the gates, heading toward the dragons. This time he mounted Winter and shot into the sky, with Viridrax following shortly behind.
The two dragons flew toward the southern horizon and disappeared from everyone's sight in Winterfell.
The journey lasted a few more hours until they finally reached the Vale again. Daemon couldn't resist having some fun when he arrived above the castle of the Eyrie. Looking up at the sky, he released a roar, using a Thu'um there for the second time, causing the sound to echo through the heavens before creating a storm.
He continued eastward, finally seeing the allied army advancing through the region. Daemon also noticed that the army had grown and that the banners of several houses had joined them.
Which came as no surprise. They had gained at least ten thousand additional men, and the force had already grown considerably.
Daemon had already given Yohn Royce permission to lead the men of the Vale, but the true command in his name would belong to Brynden.
Through a raven he kept in the region, he landed his dragon atop a mountain somewhere and wrote a letter using the paper and ink he always carried with him. He then sent the bird flying to Brynden with orders to continue advancing.
They already knew he had returned to the Vale, but they would continue marching while he explored the region mounted on his dragons.
How could he miss the opportunity to get to know the Vale?
The peaks were so high that it would be fun to maneuver his dragons between mountains and cliffs. He soared into the sky once more, diving into the vastness of the Vale.
While observing the region, he took advantage of the terrain to perform maneuvers with the dragons. "There are hidden and inaccessible places around here. Perhaps even wild dragons could live in these mountains."
Daemon couldn't help but think about that for a moment. Even so, he didn't place much faith in that possibility.
He simply continued flying through the area with Winter until he felt an arrow coming toward him.
That surprised him.
The arrow didn't even make it a quarter of the way, losing momentum and falling, even though Winter was flying relatively low at that moment.
His eyes immediately turned toward the direction from which the shot had come. There was a group of people there.
One of them was still pointing a bow in his direction. Daemon narrowed his eyes.
They were at least four hundred meters away, yet he could clearly see the look of surprise on the archer's face.
"They're the mountain clans." Daemon immediately identified who they were as he observed the group.
He could tell that the one who had fired the arrow was a reckless young man among them, since the others did not seem happy at all about what he had done. After all, the first thing he had decided to do was try to shoot an arrow at a bird that was as large as half their tribe.
Daemon could see panic spreading as he began turning the dragon around. Winter curved through the sky before returning and pointing directly at them.
Not just him. Viridrax also emerged from the clouds, advancing toward the group.
Daemon watched as they all ran frantically, trying to descend the slope and enter the forest.
But it was already too late. Winter simply passed over the group, twisted his body, and began beating his wings violently before landing with force, knocking down trees and roaring.
Everyone immediately looked at the blocked path. Even though the dragon had not landed directly on top of them, it had brought down several trees.
The group crawled, slipped, and fell while trying to escape. However, Viridrax himself advanced from behind, blocking every possible route of escape.
They were trapped. Daemon even saw a few men running to the sides and raising their hands. He used telekinesis to crush their necks.
That frightened the others even more, causing them to wail and abandon any further resistance. Those men had managed to see what had happened, while the others were focused solely on the dragons, trembling in fear of being devoured.
They were hunters from one of the wild tribes of the Mountains of the Moon. None of them appeared to have any personal hygiene, with unkempt hair and beards. They wore furs and carried handmade bows.
"What do we have here?" Daemon said calmly, observing them with interest.
The men visibly trembled at the sight of someone riding the white dragon. "Who are you?" one of them asked, looking at Daemon on his mount. The fear in his voice was obvious.
"I'm just a... let's see... for you people, perhaps I could be considered a tourist?" Daemon scratched his head in an amused tone.
After all, those men weren't even subject to the laws of the Seven Kingdoms. What would be the point of saying he was king?
His gaze returned to the men afterward. "I see you have a great deal of courage. I wonder which one of you was the one who attacked me with an arrow."
The words fell upon the men like thunder, and they began looking at each other nervously. Then someone stepped forward.
"It was me." He seemed to have done so more because of pressure from the others than from any real courage.
It wasn't exactly easy to remain hidden when everyone knew who had committed the stupidity.
"It's not every day that someone tries to attack a dragon flying through the sky while I was taking a stroll." Daemon said as he leaned slightly forward to get a better look at the young man.
Winter lowered his head, allowing Daemon to see better from his back. At the same time, the dragon remained alert, ready to attack or simply freeze them.
"So, where is your tribe located? I want to know how you live in these lands. I'm used to dealing with wildlings, but only the ones from the North." Daemon spoke calmly.
The dragons' enormous teeth and their low growls were already enough to make everyone tremble to their bones.
Convincing them in the process.
Faced with that situation, the men seemed ready to reveal anything Daemon wanted to know.
He pondered for a moment whether he should let them live or not. In the end, he found that he didn't care about that group or the man who had fired the arrow.
They were insignificant before a dragon. He had only killed those two to make the rest of the group talk.
In any case, he left the place. The group let out a huge sigh of relief as Daemon once again ascended into the sky.
Throughout his exploration, he encountered several other tribes, including the tribe those hunters had mentioned.
The sight of dragons flying across the skies frightened nearly all of them. As Daemon flew lower and lower to observe more closely, he saw men running desperately to grab bows and weapons. Women rushing into their homes carrying small children.
But the dragons never returned after flying over their villages. They merely passed by and continued onward.
Daemon spent the next two days exploring the Vale. He found the region interesting.
The mountains were impressive, the valleys deep, and the countless hidden paths made the place very different from the North.
At the same time, he observed the mountain clans and the local lords through his birds and through his own flights.
When he finally felt that he had seen enough, he returned to the army. The royal forces had already advanced deep into the Vale and continued marching toward the heart of Arryn territory.
