As Arad's power faced away and Nyar's abominations carried him away, his consciousness faded away as his body weakened and was forced to start the evolution process.
He didn't want to fall asleep, but his body pushed forward. He couldn't evolve now; Nyar was out there with Vorvadoss, a danger that must be eliminated. His wives are in danger; his universe is in danger... this isn't something that he should easily forget about and fall asleep.
[It's okay. Fall asleep.] A voice whispered inside his mind, and Arad recognized it as his own, his thoughts.
^No, no, no. I can't fall asleep. If I get captured now, this entire universe will end.^
[Why bother? You can always make a new one. With everyone that died as well.]
^That isn't it; they won't be the same. I don't want copies; I want the ones living now to survive.^
[Saving this universe is difficult, inefficient, and not worth the trouble.]
^Then why are we even fighting? Couldn't we have just moved long ago?^
