Taking the box from Giovanni, I pluck out a hundred from my pocket to pay him, but he waves it off. "Keep it. My payment for the sandwich." He grabs the box from my hands and saunters back to the kitchen like he owns the place, sets it on the table, and then peeks inside. "What did you get?" He asks while already opening the lid, and then groans as soon as he takes a peek. "I forgot you like this fruit on top of a masterpiece. Disgusting."
I hit his arm with the back of my hand as I walk past him. "Don't yuck my yum. Also, don't knock it until you try it."
"I'd rather eat dirt."
Annoyed, I wave at the sandwich ingredients before me. "You want dirt on your sandwich, Gio?"
He raises both hands in surrender. "I'll behave now. Just don't mess with the sandwich," he says, a smile hinting at the corner of his lips.
