Slowly the forest began to get less dense.
They hadn't spoken since Stefáan
mentioned Hunters. By the tone of voice he'd had when he said "Hunter" It seemed like a topic he didn't feel that great about. So the boy didn't ask any further questions even though he got really curious.
"What could a hunter be?
Someone that did more gruesome and vulgar thing's than killing a animal" he imagined.
He'd also gotten embarrassed that he threw up, he felt miniscule and small.
If he closed his eyes he could see the majestic creature standing right before him with those innocent looking brown eyes, it's four dark horns wich adorned it's head.
The next moment gone, those eyes would never see the light of day again.
Now it was under Stefáans arm ready too be cooked for dinner.
He shuddered. It got him wondering "what came after this?
Would that animal end up in some kind of heaven, like the place they were talking about on earth or were the only place it would go today's stove?"
He'd not been religions on earth, or so he thought, but it got him too reflect on life and what came after. It was a scary thought process too hurl down into.
He shook his head determined not too think about that anymore right now.
It was still hard too walk on his own.
He had gotten better footing and could almost walk without the help of Stefáan.
He cursed his legs for being too weak against gravity, but it slowly got better and better.
Stefáan suddenly stopped in the middle of nowhere. Then he did something strange. He lifted his unclad right foot into the air, around 30 centimetres above the ground. Small purple lightning bolts the size of needles came from all around his right leg. Wrapped around his leg were purple marks that glowed with a deep mysterious light. They stretched all around his right leg and in under his foot.
He pressed his foot down at a weird looking rock the boy hadn't taken notice of before.
The power by this single step was enough too crush the ground.
the boy looked on in astonishment.
He expected there too be a small crater in the ground were Stefáan had stomped, but nothing.
Then he saw it. The stone that Stefáan had put his foot down on was absorbing the weird lightning.
If you looked closer you could see that the stone had some kind of symbol engraved on it. It was dubbel the size of Stefáans foot.
All the purple stuff from Stefáans leg got sucked into the weird symbol on the stone, his leg returned too normal, only some faint marks remained on his body, the only proof of what had just happened.
Then something even crazier happend.
Like a curtain was dropped a small cabin appeared in a groove maybe fifteen steps Infront of them. It was like there had been some kind of barrier that made it impossible too see the house before.
In one moment it wasn't there and then "poof" and in the next it was.
He was speechless.
"Ha ha, Val have you never seen someone use channels before either?" Stefáan looke surprised and amused, both at the same time.
"Never" the boy gasped.
This day was one hell of a emotional rollercoaster for him.
He didn't know if he liked it or not.
But the display that Stefáan had showed just moments ago intrigued him.
"What was that power?
What did he call it? Was it Channels?"
"well this day is filled with firsts for you it seems" Stefáan smiled.
The boy really liked this man's smile it was that kind of smile that made you feel warm and at home.
"Well anyway, Welcome too my humble abode" Stefáan exclaimed.
And indeed it was humble.
It looked cute here in the forest but it was a little run down and the pathway leading up to the house hadn't been reworked in a long time.
There was a small garden next to the house too, it looked like it was in good shape.
The cabin looked big enough for one or maybe two people.
The red painted wooden walls and the black brick roof made it look really cozy.
"Well it's not the Palace of the Ancient or anything grand, but I like it" Stefáan looked proud over his little wood cabin.
Stefáan began walking on the stone pathway toward the cabin.
"Are you coming or no? Or did you not want any clothes"
The boy stunned about everything that had happened moments ago began running too catch up with Stefáan.
Stefáan layed the body of the creature on some kind of round table outside the cabin. He put his rifle on the table too.
Then he turned around so that he faced the boy.
"So, clothes was it"
he gestured for the boy to follow him inside. The boy went after him.
Inside the cabin it looked a lot more clean than outside.
The first thing in the house was a coat hanger and a place to put your shoes.
He didn't have any since he was naked so he just walked straight in.
The rest of the bottom floor was made up by a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a staircase to the second floor.
Stefáan turned on a oil lamp on the kitchen table, then he went into the bedroom. He rummaged around in his closet for a while.
He came out after some time and held up some clothes in the face of the boy.
"Do you like these?" he asked.
It was a grey shirt in some kind of soft leather and a black pair of pants that looked really comfy.
"I don't know, I can take whatever you have that I can borrow." the boy answered.
"Then take these I don't use them anymore, they may be a little too large for you but I think it'll work" he placed the clothes in the boys hands.
He received the clothes and put them on.
It was a strange feeling, the clothes pressed against his skin. It brought him a lot of discomfort since he wasn't used too clothes but it was also much warmer. They were a tad bit too big for him but it was fine.
"You can check out yourself in the mirror in the bathroom upstairs, if you want" Stefáan grinned as he looked at him.
The boy walked upstairs.
There were two more rooms up there.
One was the bathroom and the other was one more bedroom, this one a little bit smaller than the first. It looked uninhabited.
He went into the bathroom.
The whole room was painted in a soft green colour. In the edge of the room there was a bathtub in a material that looked alot like ceramic.
Next to the bathtub there were the basin and above the basin the mirror.
he went Infront of the mirror.
It was a peculiar feeling too see his own face in the reflection. This was the the first time he was able too see his whole body.
He had honey blonde hair and dark green eyes. Under his eyes he had dark bags and his limbs were brittle and scrawny. A face that could become handsome if he just ate something, how long had it been since he had eaten? he didn't know.
Around his right eye and left arm there were some faint zigsag markings of some sort.
"WAIT, weren't these the same kind Stefáan had on his right leg and foot?! "
