"Don't bother picking me up. I'll be there soon!" Evan Fairchild pocketed his phone, but in the blink of an eye, the mother and son had vanished.
He couldn't stop himself from striding in the direction they had just been.
Tommy hung up, a puzzled look on his face.
'President Fairchild has been out of sight all day, and his car is still parked at the company. Where on earth did he go?'
'And there's no way President Fairchild would forget such an important meeting. Why did he need a reminder?'
'It's just too bizarre!'
Evan Fairchild found the mother and son in a small dessert shop.
Melody Monroe and Ian Monroe were sitting on high stools, their legs too short to reach the floor. They swung their feet contentedly, their movements in perfect sync. Each of them held a large ice cream cone and looked overjoyed as they ate.
"Is it good?" Melody Monroe asked Ian Monroe, tilting her head.
Ian Monroe nodded.
