"Are you sure you want to be Melody Monroe's older brother?" Evan Fairchild asked again.
"If I can't be her boyfriend, I guess I'll have to be her brother."
"In that case, I'll bring Melody Monroe over for a formal visit tomorrow to officially recognize the Rockwell Family as our kin. And for the Lunar New Year, don't forget to come with your parents to pay respects at the Fairchild Estate."
Silas Rockwell's smile froze on his face.
A scene immediately flashed through his mind.
'Melody Monroe would call him 'big brother,' and then Evan Fairchild would call him 'big brother' too. But his own father was of the same generation as Evan Fairchild! Wouldn't that drag his father's seniority down as well?'
'The Fairchild Family, with their standing, is especially particular about these things. When it came time for New Year's visits, the family hierarchy would be an absolute mess!'
He couldn't possibly take on the title of "big brother."
