Grandma Yan: HAAH! YOUR WIFE!
Sunz recoils back to her reaction: Not so loud, that's hurting my ear.
Grandma Yan: How is this even possible? *let out a light laugh* You sure are full of surprises. Does your mother know about this?
Sunz: No… I don't feel like revealing more information unless I know more of what is going on. How the hell did she show up in those cards, and am I in any trouble?
Grandma Yan: First, I'll remind you, I'm one of the best Fortune Teller. Second, you and your wife are both in trouble.
Sunz (!): How big of a trouble, or you can't see it?
Grandma Yan: That is unknown to me. I don't know what trouble will happen between you two, I don't know how it will end, but I know how to fix it.
Sunz sighs: We have to divorce, right? Yin and Yang exist together, without one, the other will disappear, and you will be able to see my future again.
Grandma Yan smiles: You are correct… why isn't your academic score better than average if you are this smart?
Sunz: I'm not book smart. Also, everything was laid out for that answer. Yin and Yang… uh, stuff and overthinking. It's just hit my head and come out, ok.
Grandma Yan: Well, the answer is correct, but are you willing to? Unless you are willing to remove her from your consciousness, this will be a ticking time bomb for you two.
Sunz: That is such a hard question… hmm, so you can't see my past and future right now. What about present? If you can, what do you see between her and me?
Grandma Yan formed a crooked smile on her face: Tch! *burst out laughing* You really are your parents' child!
Sunz (What the hell, did that question intrigue her that much?)
Grandma Yan: Looks like your answer is, like always. I. Don't. Know.
Sunz: What? No! The answer is No! I won't divorce her!
Grandma Yan: So fake, what a blatant lie to reinforce such weak relationship. Same situation, but the intense passion of love is nowhere near.
Sunz: I have been through so much, how can what I said and feel be fake?
Grandma Yan: You, been through so much? You are just a 16-year-old boy turning 17. You have no desire, and for most of your life, your eyes have been glued to a bunch of textbooks that you have no interest in.
Sunz… has a little smile on his: Really Grandma? All you need to do is ask, no need to bring up those useless memories of mine… *sigh* the last 2 weeks have been filled with ups and downs. Both she and I have been protecting each other in life-or-death situations, and to top it off, we have also had sex! The intimate type of sex between two lovers, and not the kind that goes off of basic human instinct.
"So, I'll live that dull and boring life with a desireless personality for as long as it takes to form my ideal personality that only I can possess."
…
Grandma Yan: Perfect! The Vision! Something… is… forming *start cackling* haha. Haha. HAHAHA!
Everything suddenly disappears without the need for any hand gesture, leaving behind only Sunz and the mirror stack of cards with Grace's image.
*move*
The body is paralyzed in the void.
*shatter*
Crack slowly forms between the mirror-like cards.
*red*
A red orb forming between the body and the mirror cards. It slowly thins itself out into a thread and gravitates to the body and the mirror cards. Lightly wrapping the tip of the finger, then to the arm, then to the shoulder. The body starts twitching and recovers its movement while the mirror cards start showing more cracks. In between the cracks, little balls of light fly out, glittering in the void.
As the body recovers most of its movements, the reflected image inside the mirror cards has become voided, but the cracks are still glittering with little balls of light.
…
But from deep inside the void a scythe blade emerges and cuts the red thread… the body stops moving, and the mirror cards are shattered, all of the fragments floating in place with slight movements. Except for one that shot directly at the body and pushed it far away from the fragments, dragging half of the thread with it.
All of the fragments then suddenly form a body of its own without any empty spot… the arm then reached out toward the direction of the other body, but was met with an immense force pushing it in the opposite direction, far away from the other body, alone and leaving behind the other half of the red thread without anything to connect to.
…
…
…
Sunz woke up with his body against the door of the same room, but with the light on: What the hell happened? *remember* nothing coming to mind… did I just take a nap?
Looking around and seeing the cards that were on the table are now scattered across the other half of the room. While Grandma Yan is lying on the floor, motionless.
Sunz approaches her: Grandma? Grandma?
*shake her body… nothing*
*hold his hand in front of her nose and mouth… there is air, but too weak, and the cycle between each breath keeps getting slower*
*run out of the room, looking for his parents*
…
"Mom! Dad! Something is wrong with Grandma!"
Dad-Túlǐ: Calm down or else you're gonna faint.
Sunz: I can't calm down! Something is wrong with Miss Yan! She fainted, I also fainted, but I have no idea what happened.
Mom-Máfan: Honey, go and check on her, then phone me back.
Dad-Túlǐ: Got it! *casually get up from the floor and leave*
Sunz: I'm coming too!
Mom-Máfan: NO! You stay here!
Sunz: Why?! I want to know what happened to her.
Mom-Máfan glared at him: You can know after your father has done checking up on her. Besides, what can you do to help her?
Sunz:… ok, I'll stay.
…
…
*phone's ring tone*
Mom-Máfan: Hello… ok… got it. *hang up*, she is feeling better now.
Sunz: That's a relief… can I go see her now?
The door suddenly slid open, and Grandma Yan walked in: I heard my grandson worrying about me.
Sunz: Grandma! You, ok?
Grandma Yan: I'm fine, just overexerted myself. You remember anything after waking up, I for sure do not.
Sunz: I wish I did.
Grandma Yan: Unfortunate… anyway, Máfan, Túlǐ, time to share all of your son's secrets.
Sunz: Wait what?
Grandma Yan: Nothing is confidential between your mother and I, kid.
…
…
After telling Sunz's parents everything she knows about him through the fortune-telling.
Mom-Máfan: Hmm… *glare at Sunz like she's about to kill him* Sunz Wu, did you use any protection when having fun with this Wife of yours?
Sunz (!): We did. We follow the protocol, nothing bad is going to happen.
Mom-Máfan stop glaring: Ok then, pictures.
Sunz quickly unlocked his phone, got the picture ready, and gave it to his mother: Here!
Dad-Túlǐ: Well, she looks cute.
Mom-Máfan: Of course she is, but blond hair and blue eyes with good fashion sense and body… isn't she too good for him? That also ignores the fact that she threw herself on him.
Dad-Túlǐ: Honey, seriously?
Mom-Máfan: What?
Dad-Túlǐ: Our relationship.
Mom-Máfan: Well, that's different and not as severe as this. I waited a year while she took 2 weeks. Also Honey, I throw my heart at you, not my body onto you. And I certainly did not throw my body onto anyone else at such a young age… but, since they are both young and still have common sense, I'll be somewhat lenient about this relationship.
Dad-Túlǐ: What your mom means is, we are really happy for you and don't throw away this once-in-a-lifetime chance of yours.
Sunz: Ok, got it… but what about the unknown thing that causes Grandma Yan to be unable to see my future? You two have any problem with that?
Dad-Túlǐ: I don't. What about you, honey?
Mom-Máfan: I don't have a say in this. He is a grown-up after that decision of his, but if he decides to divorce his wife because of that little issue, I'm ready to give him a way bigger issue to solve.
Dad-Túlǐ: Ok, great. That is our opinion.
Sunz: I'm not going to divorce her. All I wanted was to let you two know what is going on and what will happen in the future. The career I wanted to focus on is being a Hero. One of Jihu's relatives will help me with this.
Mom-Máfan: Hah…sure.
Sunz: What? That's it.
Mom-Máfan: I'm sorry, you want your mother to be overprotective of your life twenty-four seven.
Sunz: No, of course not. Your reaction is just a bit bland compared to the previous one.
Mom-Máfan sighs: Here is the reason.
"Love like that is rare, only comes once or never in a lifetime, so I want you to treasure it. Compared that to your career is not that worth of my energy. Plus, sometimes Heroes are hired as full-time security guards, so you've got your career set."
Sunz:… you don't worry that I might die on the job.
Mom-Máfan: Of course not, you don't look like you hit the requirement for the important mission. We do believe that you will do well in your career, but not that well.
Dad-Túlǐ: Also, if you do get seriously injured while on the job, the medical field has advanced so much that anyone is savable without the price of an arm and a leg.
Sunz: Ok… well, my wife is an A-rank Hero. Do you have any issues?
Mom-Máfan: Miss Yan, will his wife's death be the cause of your inability to see the future?
Grandma Yan: No, not at and if she dies, I'll know what her corpse looks like.
Mom-Máfan: You hear her, you have to create your own future.
Sunz (Ok, great, this is going in a good direction.): Ok, great, nothing to worry about. Well, I'm happy with all that, and I have nothing to tell you about.
Mom-Máfan: Well, Miss Yan is a Hero so she can show you the ropes if you ask her.
Sunz (What the fuck? Well, I now know where I get the casually throwing information around from):…
Grandma Yan: Don't force that on him, but as his grandma, I'm always available to help.
Sunz: ok, thanks you very much.
Mom-Máfan: Well then, since you have nothing else to talk about. Honey, why don't you take him home. Since I'm already here, might as well have my fortune read.
Grandma Yan: That's so sad for me, but you can always come here any time you like. Spending time with others needs to be taken accordingly.
Sunz: Sure, then bye Mom. Bye Grandma.
…
His mom and Grandma Yan said goodbye to Sunz, and his father took him back home.
Grandma Yan and Mom-Máfan are sitting in the empty fortune-telling room, facing each other.
Grandma Yan: The family that doesn't lie to each other really is a myth after all.
Mom-Máfan: He will learn a lot about his family secrets once he reaches the right age. I'm certain that he has personal secrets that you are holding on to for him, so I won't pry at all.
Grandma Yan: That I can't disclose.
Mom-Máfan: Expected. Anyway, what happened?
Grandma Yan: Unfortunately, I don't remember. It simply will happen unless there is an intervention.
Mom-Máfan: The "It" here is still unknown, but unless he cheats on my future daughter-in-law, that "It" won't happen.
Grandma Yan: You seem to be really fond of her despite never meeting her before, and even though both she and your son play a role in creating this "It".
Mom-Máfan: How could I not! Hearing the way she acts toward my son reminded me of my old days with my husband. She is the perfect daughter-in-law.
Grandma Yan: Sadly, your preference won't affect the "It" at all. Before I lost consciousness, my scheme of forcing him to confess his feelings about his wife was very successful, and I did get to see the vision of "It" before my memories of that moment got erased, and my body lost all of its strength.
"In conclusion, their love is what makes the "It" but to him their love is a blessing, while for her their love is a curse disguised as a blessing. I don't know why their love is affecting her like that since the "It" is affecting both sides and blocking out the future and past."
Mom-Máfan: I guess all we can do is wait… let's move on to his Hero career. You can help him with that, right?
Grandma Yan: That is for him to decide, and don't worry, I already know what to teach him.
Mom-Máfan: I'll leave him in your hand when that happens then. But I do hope it comes quickly, all he does is just rot in his room playing games and watching videos.
Grandma Yan: Better than not dying.
Mom-Máfan: Well, with the amount of time he spends glued to that laptop of his. A professional esports player would be better than whatever state he is in.
"Also, you should already know I'm not worried about him dying at all. Saving him is just part of our job as parents."
