Morning had dawned over the shelter, and the twins sat neatly dressed in their uniforms by a stainless steel table. Their faces were tense as they endured a relentless tirade through one of their exclusive projective communicators.
Projected before them was Flact—a burly man in his mid-forties with a well-trimmed beard and a bear-like face, but eyes sharp as a hawk. He was one of the ten commanders overseeing Galaw City's Sightseer forces—and the twins' godfather.
Yelling at the top of his lungs through the communicator, Flact's gaze burned into the twins, who avoided meeting his eyes.
"What were you two thinking, disappearing at such a critical time? And what on earth made you decide to go to an ex-scavenger base of all places?" he thundered, exasperation thick in his voice.
