"Yes. Major Zeal never got along with the commander, but I just assumed it was because of their beliefs. Not because of the commander's shady behavior." I explain.
My father was great at keeping secrets from everyone in the palace. He hid even more from me. I never thought that I had any kind of power over my father as the crown prince, but now that his overwhelming presence is gone, I'm certain his lies and secrets were proof that I must have had some. Why else would he try to keep things from me? It was because, as the next in line to the throne…I had more power than anyone else. If I had stood up to him and let his wrongdoings come to light, I could have forced his abdication and taken over. I was too blinded by my childhood fear to see that. Emotional dominance is how he kept me in check. If only I could have realized this sooner.
