The lift doors opened onto the top floor of the Riss boutique, and Tommy stepped out into what could only be described as a shrine to exclusivity. The space was smaller than the floors below, intimate, with only a handful of garments displayed on brushed-gold racks, each one illuminated by its own dedicated spotlight. A bar of polished black marble stood in the corner, staffed by a man who looked like he'd stepped out of a perfume advertisement.
"Aloy, this is excessive even for you."
"Well, this is nothing compared to the other Riss store out there," she said, scanning the room. "You get the VIP treatment. Besides, I have a meeting here in a few minutes, so you can wander while I handle business."
"A meeting? Here?"
"Board stuff. The Riss family sent someone to discuss the investment terms. I figured I'd kill two birds, get you dressed, and sign papers at the same time."
