Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE

Once upon a time in a vast forest full of wild animals, there lived a sly fox named Vixen who was infamous for being a trickster. As she was afraid to use her cunningness to just anyone and accidentally offend the higher-ups, she had never even dared to think about deceiving Leo—the cruel ruler of the forest.

But one day, Vixen who was having a worse bad day saw Leo peacefully sleeping under a tree. Pissed off by his seemingly carefree life, she thought something mischievous, "What if I trick the king himself just this once? I'm sure, he will become the next laughingstock!"

So with her bold resolve, she tiptoed carefully around Leo and whispered gently in his ear that a great treasure was hidden at the edge of the forest, guarded by a fierce creature. She also added that the treasure was a mystical item that would give power to the monarch who would obtain it.

Just like that, Leo, upon hearing it, suddenly woke up and was intrigued by the promise of the said treasure. Known for his greed for power, he recklessly demanded Vixen to lead him to the place mentioned while still half-sleep. Vixen who didn't expect to fool the king so easily agreed instantly, smirking at her clever ruse.

She then excitedly led Leo to a distant part of the forest where a deep pit had been covered with branches and leaves.

"There," said Vixen, pointing to the pit she originally created as a prank for the other animals, "The treasure lies beneath there, but beware of the guardian beast!"

The Lion King, who was not even fully awake yet, approached the pit mindlessly causing him to fall right through the camouflage. The sly fox who led him that way was now standing behind and couldn't contain her laughter at the sight of her king getting trapped.

"Oh, how amusing, my king!" she jeered. "You may rule the forest, but to think you're no different than those fools, I feel so greatly disappointed. Who would have thought that even you could be fooled by a cute charming fox like me?!" Vixen laughed so hard.

But after coming back to his senses, Leo was not one to be outwitted anymore. With a mighty leap, he sprang out of the pit. His eyes blazed with anger as he realized he had been tricked, "How brave of you to make fun of me. You sure underestimating your King, little fox."

Vixen's laughter died in her throat as she saw the lion advance towards her.

"...In the end, the forest echoed with a roar that shook the trees and cracked the ground. Vixen's deceitful personality became her downfall, and Leo reaffirmed his position as the unchallenged ruler of the forest. From that day on, no one has ever dared to disturb and trick Leo in fear for their lives to end miserably."

The beautiful storyteller closed the huge book with a loud thud. Staring at the two kids beaming before her, she asked with a gentle smile curved on her face, "Did you two enjoy our story for today?"

She was expecting them to respond excitedly in unison but the only response she received was the pondering question of an adorable little girl cuddling in the bed.

"It was a really good story, Mom. But can you tell me what happened exactly to the sly fox?" the girl asked genuinely.

Although it was different from her anticipation, the gorgeous lady was satisfied enough by her daughter's curiosity.

Calmly, she replied, "Unfortunately for her, she was devoured by Leo and never seen again."
