No clear sense of time, but when Lance returned to the portal side, Alhazred and his team were still conducting their research.
"Any discoveries?"
Alhazred, being a mystical scholar, shouldn't be clueless about this.
"This is the core beacon, marking this world, forming with the void behind that portal..."
The basic principle of transmission is roughly similar, simply identifying a mark and then constructing a channel between the two.
Alhazred had also been targeted by some presence from the void, always intending to turn him into a beacon for invading reality.
Because a beacon serves as a "destination," without it, one won't find the way, even if the ancient gods are strong, they wouldn't find this world.
At present, this [world] beacon marked exactly as its name suggests, this world, allowing them to find their way back after entering the void.
The reason the ancestor left this beacon is quite simple, he wanted to return.
