Three days later
"What the hell? That bar owned by a vampire has become a mecca for online celebrity check-ins? Even the name has changed from the Bloody Bar to the Witch's Bar!!" Derrick listened to Lorna slowly explain everything over the phone, his expression completely dumbfounded.
'Who the hell came up with this idea? So fucking creative!'
Derrick never imagined that there were such business tycoons hidden among the vampires.
They had transformed a vampire hunting ground into a holy place for online celebrities, directly changing its horror aesthetic into something completely ridiculous.
It was difficult for Derrick to accept this reality for a while, but Lorna on the other end of the phone couldn't take it anymore.
An angry voice came from the phone. "You bastard priest!"
"I've said it countless times! My name is Lorna! Lorna! You just won't listen! And now the bar has become a fucking internet celebrity bar. All those vampires are gone."
"My pocket money is gone!"
From Lorna's words, it was obvious how angry she was at the moment. She had even forgotten to hide her true thoughts.
Since the bar had become their source of income, Derrick and Lorna had made an agreement to go there every night to hunt vampires.
Derrick was in charge of luring them, Lorna was in charge of controlling them, and then Derrick would finish them off.
At the end, the two of them would split the money equally.
Although their cooperation had become more and more seamless, it was inevitable that someone would eventually notice if they kept doing it for a while.
Even so, Lorna couldn't accept this fact.
Not to mention her, there probably wasn't a girl in the world who could accept having an image of herself that looked like a green-skinned, long-nosed, wrinkly witch from a fairy tale.
Now Lorna couldn't even imagine what would happen if people discovered that she was the legendary witch. It would be her social death.
Lorna had heard that many Mutants got code names.
But what was she called? Witch?
The more Lorna thought about it, the angrier she became. She wished she could reach through the phone and strangle Derrick.
Hearing Lorna's worries, Derrick comforted her.
"It's okay. Right now, only I know that you're that witch, and I swear on the Lord's name that I won't tell a soul. Except for the two of us, no third person will ever know that you're the witch!"
"Witch? Are you talking about the green witch legend that's become popular recently?"
Beside Derrick, Peter, who had been doing his exercises, suddenly raised his head and exclaimed,
"My God! You even know a witch? Could it be that she's also a superhero?" Peter's voice was unusually loud.
Derrick could clearly feel Lorna on the other end of the phone go silent for several seconds.
"You bastard, prei-"
Toot! Toot!
Derrick immediately hung up the call.
He was afraid that if he continued talking, Lorna would turn into another green monster and smash the city.
However, Derrick couldn't help feeling a little pity when he heard that the vampire hunting ground was gone.
'After just three days of grinding, the mana in my body had increased by half!'
Derrick faced only one problem.
When it came to using mana, Derrick was still stuck with the crude technique of infusing weapons with it.
He instinctively felt that there had to be a better way to use his mana, but he simply had no clue. But he did not worry, for he already had a plan for this.
He knew there were actual magic users in the Marvel universe. Perhaps once he found one of them, he could learn the other uses of mana.
Putting down the phone, Derrick looked at Peter with a smile.
"Peter, haven't you had too much time to be on YouTube recently? Are the exercises not enough for you?"
Derrick grinned.
"It just so happens that I made a little money, and as your big brother, why don't I give you a few more books? Let's treat it as an early birthday present."
Peter almost dropped his pen.
He hadn't even finished half of the previous exercise books Derrick had sent him before, and now this.
It was killing him.
Peter quickly raised his hand and explained, "I use the computer for a reason. It's the design drawing for the armor. I want to check the prices of suitable materials, but... the materials I found are a bit expensive."
Derrick patted his chest and said, "Peter, you may not know me very well. I don't have many good qualities, but what I do have is a lot of money."
"Really? That's great!" Peter's eyes lit up. "I made a rough estimate yesterday. It's not much. About 50 million USD should cover the materials."
Derrick suddenly fell silent.
After a long pause, Derrick slowly said, "I think a man should never talk about his good qualities on his own."
He pointed toward the books. "You continue doing those here. I'm going outside to get some fresh air."
.
.
"Weasel, I'm out of money!" At Sister Margaret's bar, Derrick placed his pistol on the table with a snap and said bluntly,
"I need money."
Weasel's eyes widened, and he said in a panic, "It's useless if you want to rob me! I'm just a poor man. If you want to rob someone, go rob that guy Wade."
"If you need it, I can even give you his address!"
"What a mess." Derrick explained, "I mean, I want to go back to work and continue being a mercenary. So hurry up and introduce me to some commissions!"
Hearing Derrick's words, Weasel breathed a sigh of relief.
"You should've said that earlier! You almost scared me to death. I saw you pull out your gun and thought you were trying to rob me."
"How is that possible? I know your address. If I wanted to rob you, wouldn't I just break down your door and take everything?"
Seeing that Weasel didn't say anything about commissions, Derrick became anxious.
"Quickly, find out if anyone else wants to put a bounty on me. Preferably a high-paying one."
Weasel was startled. It wasn't the first time he'd seen someone hoping to have a bounty placed on them.
Weasel shook his head. "No. Since that time you were caught... Uh, I mean, since you caught yourself, there hasn't been any news about a bounty on you."
Derrick thought it was a pity. It seemed this shortcut to making quick money wasn't going to work.
"Well, I'm just asking. It doesn't mean anything. It's not like I was looking for some easy money."
Derrick paused. "Has Wade been offered a bounty?"
Weasel stared at him. "I know what you want to do."
He sighed. "But unfortunately, no."
