His little shop sat near the edge of Qīnghé Village, where the bustling marketplace slowly gave way to the mountain road. A simple wooden shed covered with an old straw roof shelter
ed several carts lined up side by side, their wheels worn smooth from years of travel.
Some were small enough to carry baskets of vegetables, while others were much larger, built to haul heavy sacks of grain or lumber. Spare wheels and wooden planks leaned against the shed, and a few ropes hung neatly from the support beams.
A crooked wooden sign swayed gently above the entrance.

The old man sat lazily on a low stool beneath the shade, slowly repairing one of the cart wheels while a sleepy brown dog napped at his feet.
