"Well, then why don't you tell me why you thought I would take money from your father?"
David and Gustav were sitting at the kitchen table. David was a little angry, and he had a right to be. He had a right to be more angry than he was, but for some reason he wasn't.
"I'm sorry," repeated Gustav Meiden and sighed. "I think it's because of Ole. I trusted him and he betrayed me and somewhere in me was this fear that I would be betrayed again. I mean..."
"Okay," David really wasn't very angry. "I understand. Actually, that's what I thought. But it still hurts, you know?"
"I'm sorry," repeated Gustav feeling like the last traitor.
"It's okay. The money tempted me for a while, but only a short while. Really. I'd like to help my father's company somehow, but I don't want anyone to suffer in the process. I didn't want you to suffer. After what your father and Ole did to you..."
"Do you know?"
"I know something there. Gustav... if we ever part ways, it certainly won't be this way."
