Just as it was about to reach one of the people it had gone to attack, something came pressing down on its back.
Something wrapped around its neck before tightening and being pulled back.
It was followed by a stabbing pain that dug into its ribcage before going deeper.
That was when it felt like it could no longer move a single step forward.
The prey was so close that it could just take another couple of steps to reach it, yet it seemed so far away.
Those small steps seemed to be far too much for it in that moment.
They felt more than what they actually had been, as if it would have to take many more or would have to take a much larger stride to reach it.
All of its efforts were put into it, but there was not enough that it could do.
The gap widened quite quickly, especially with it being yanked back by its neck and being weighed down like that.
Someone had actually made use of its current state and its being distracted to jump onto its back and ride it.
