And because the original Gem Magic is actually a one-time consumable, the gem would shatter after using the magic, which is obviously not appropriate for the warship's main cannon. After all, it's impossible for the cannon to be one-time use too, so Dorothy specifically developed the Krypton Gold Maintenance Spell.
This allows the originally consumable Power of Gems to be recharged with an equivalent amount of Power of Wealth, transforming from a disposable battery into a reusable rechargeable battery. In fact, the battery capacity won't deteriorate but will become more durable with more charging.
