Chapter 471 - Story 29 The Path Of Least Resistance. Chapter 21

Dao Mengdi as well as Dao Xuan were both talented with ice spells so it took a while. But after the next few minutes, the two of them made a very dense, and strong ice platform for us that floated atop the dark swamp water.

"Alright... Let's go swimming with a bunch of water monsters." I muttered with exasperation as I also added several thick wooden limbs around the ice ship to reinforce it. As well as to to act as a weapon with the thick long thorns that were all over the limbs.

The girls and I got into the ship, and we set off towards what we hoped was the other end of the dungeon room's end. And we literally didn't even make it five feet off the shore before we were attacked.

The ice ship rumbled and the thick wooden limbs around the ship crackled as something large smashed into the bottom of the ice boat.

Dao Xu made a loud squeak of suprise and some level of fear. But the ship held... And seeing the ship hold, from the side of the ship surfaced a massive five meter long gator head that filled the air with a horrid vibrating growl as it's eye's found us atop the ship.

But then with a loud crack, a wooden branch smashed into the gator's head with a whip like speed that made it's scales atop it's head explode as blood and bone matter escaped with the force of the blow.

As my wooden construct's weren't just normal 'wood' anymore as all my normal wood construct's were made from the Azure Dragon Heart Tree. Which was a peak tier two natural treasure.

"One down... Let's wait actually. The blood will attract more of them so we can thin them out before we start roaming around." I said thoughtfully as I let the gator whose skull was crushed and pissing blood sink back down into the water.

"I will attack the next one who surfaces." Dao Toubi said firmly before she added. "I suggest just keeping this boat stable with your wood constructs."

And that was a fair point. While Mengdi, Xu, and Xuan sat down on the wooden bench I made for them to hold onto. Dao Toubi and I waited patiently for the other gator monster's to come.

As this was still just a foundation establishment level dungeon even if the monster's had their strength elevated with this dungeon's energy reaching a breaking point. The monster's in here weren't going to be any more intelligent then those goblin like monsters I first fought to 'earn access' to the Five Element's Sword Sect.

So, so long as we drifted around past the massive gator corpse I just killed. The other gator monster's woudn't think past their innate dungeon monster hatred that drove them to murder us on sight.

My thought's proved all to true as the gator's reached us... Always tried to just smash through our boat and failed with how I added yet another layer to the boat. Along with Dao Mengdi and Xuan adding to the ice layers.

And when the gator would surface, pissed as all hell at smashing face first into a bunch of ice blades and thorns. Dao Toubi would be there to send a beam of sword light into it's head to kill it or otherwise lethally wound it!

With each monster killed, I could see Dao Toubi was getting more confident in her actions... Too confident, as the noise was drawing the bigger and stronger gator's that were hidden in the deep parts of the swamp.

"Tsk, I... I need to brace myself better to kill them properly." Dao Toubi said with frustration clear in her cold voice as her last swing of sworld light broke on the upper mid foundation stage gator monster's skull.

Instead of breaking it and either killing it outright or lethally wounding it.

And her impatience made me pause as she braced a leg on the side of the boat to give her a stronger position to swing her sword even harder.

'Fuck!' I mentally screamed as the ship shook as another even larger gator attacked it from below. And while Dao Toubi staggered slightly with her leg braced against the ship.

When the gator came up to see what it had hit so hard and was unable to get a bite of.

She swung at the largest gator we had seen so far and her sword light was bright and strong... But it was no where near lethal, nor even fully debilitating as the gator hissed furiously and spun around in the water as it twisted in pain.

And even with the pain it was feeling. That didn't stop the fact a dozen meter long giant scale covered tail that was as thick as an elephant's leg whipped through the air. That tail, struck true upon Dao Toubi's sword even after breaking through several raised branches I conjured up as shields.

I watched in slow motion as Dao Toubi coughed out blood as she shot through the air and then with a harsh thud. She hit a swamp tree a dozen meters away... And then with a loud splash, she sunk into the water.

All but instantly being lost in the black brackish water that couldn't be seen through in the slightest.

"Toubi!" The other three sister's screamed in fear but all the while my qi flooded out of my body as I synched into the root's I had already summoned. Those root's quickly shot out towards where Toubi had fallen and in the corner of my eye...

I saw the wounded gator was stirring the water as it chased for the target it had sensed entering it's water.

And with a hand motion, thinner root's broke off from the one's I already had created. And the smaller root's quickly tangled up with the massive gator as I focused on the roots I sent towards the tree.

With my senses spread through the root's I was controlling. It took half a minute.... Even as the wounded gator began death rolling the roots I was wrapping it up with. And the other three sister's audibly losing hope as they screamed for Toubi to come back up from the water.

As they themselves know that entering this pitch back brackish water was suicide without any form of special sensory abilities.

But! I found Dao Toubi with my root's and I quickly pulled her limp form out of the water with a loud splash of the dirty water hitting the water below as her sodden form was carried through the air towards us.

As she quickly reached us. I felt Dao Xuan the youngest hurriedly grab my shoulder as she cried out. "Jake, she isn't breathing!"

And as Dao Toubi was put on a large blanket that Mengdi threw on the bottom of the ship I quickly ran through the alchemy healing knoweldge I had picked up and then realized my special acupuncture would help her as well!

I got over Dao Toubi and with a couple hand presses to her sternum, I confirmed that her sternum was indeed broken which made sense as to why she wasn't breathing currently.

She got her sternum broken with the gator's oversized whip of a tail. Her back slammed hard into the tree which knocked out any possible air into her lungs. And when her enhanced cultivator body still tried to draw in breath... It instead drew in dirty swamp water!

I took a breath and with a knife hand. I stabbed my hand into her breast. Just over her heart with a jolt of qi shooting through her muscles and instead shocked her heart to life along with sending a jolt through her nervous system.

Dao Toubi's eye's snapped open as agony shot through her like an ice pick to her nerves. And she instinctively went to take in a breath... But her lungs were still filled with swamp water.

Until I came around her and with both hands I cupped over her large chest and then slammed them backwards which made her projectile vomit all that swamp water out with a cry of pain.

And with that... Dao Toubi slumped against me with dull eye's with her heart beating weaking to my senses.

"Healing pills now." I said firmly as I moved my hands away from Dao Toubi's chest while adding. "Her sternum is broken, and she almost certainly has some rib fractures as well."

The sister's who had seen all this were just happy to see Dao Toubi very clearly breathing. Alive, and in their view as from Dao Xuan's tears that were leaking from her eyes. I could tell that they had all but given up after a minute of being unable to find their sister in the muck.

"Thank you again Jake... How are your qi stores?" Dao Mengdi said with clear concern as I sat back with a bit of mental exhaustion.

As I had indeed broken Dao Toubi's deathly fate. But her Halo had only changed to a weak green halo which woudn't amount to 'much' in the grand scheme of things.

But I still said helplessly. "My Qi stores aren't the deepest of things. My spells are powerful and all. But I am still at the first level of Heavenly Foundation Establishment. And creating several dozen root's of long reach in this situation is draining."

I shook my head even as I watched Dao Xu carefully pouring a healing elixer down Dao Toubi's throat. And with a mental sigh. I just leaned my head in my hands. As these women were going to be the death of me at this rate.
