-------------------------------------------------

Arkady moved again.

This time—Seriously.

The lightning around his body condensed tighter across his skin until he resembled a living thunderstorm compressed into human shape.

Blue-white arcs spiraled violently around his limbs, splitting nearby trees apart every time they touched the ground.

Then he vanished.

The earth exploded beneath where he had stood.

Biffer barely tracked the motion.

Even the rain itself seemed frozen as Arkady tore through the forest at impossible speed, leaving jagged trails of lightning behind him like claw marks carved into reality.

-Swish!

Ghost Rider remained still. Completely still.

"...."

Hellfire rolled slowly from his body in heavy waves, the flames moving almost lazily compared to Arkady's explosive speed.

That calmness irritated Arkady.

Excited him too.

He circled Ghost Rider in blinding bursts of movement, afterimages flickering throughout the clearing as electricity detonated across the scorched earth.

Then—He struck.

Arkady appeared directly before Ghost Rider, lightning exploding from his arm as he drove a devastating punch toward the exposed jawbone of the flaming skull.

The force behind it could have shattered concrete bunkers.

But just before impact—Ghost Rider moved.

Not quickly. Not sharply.

Wrongly.

His skull shifted sideways in an unnatural blur, leaving behind a distorted afterimage of flame as Arkady's fist tore harmlessly through empty space.

Arkady's eyes widened.

"...."

For the first time since arriving in Forks—He felt surprise.

Then chains screamed through the air.

Before Arkady could reposition, Ghost Rider's burning chain wrapped violently around his neck.

The hellfire-coated metal tightened instantly.

Arkady choked as Ghost Rider grabbed both ends of the chain and pulled hard in opposite directions.

The pressure crushed inward like a tightening vice.

Hellfire burned against Arkady's throat while the chain dug deeper with every second.

Electricity burst wildly around Arkady's body as he grabbed at the chain with both hands trying to rip it free.

But the harder he struggled—The tighter it became.

His skin burned black beneath the infernal metal.

The fire still refused to heal.

Arkady's expression twisted between pain and fascination.

"Amazing—!"

His voice strained as sparks burst from his mouth.

Ghost Rider leaned closer.

The flames pouring from his skull illuminated Arkady's widening eyes.

Then—He laughed.

"-GAGAGAGA!!!"

A deep, mocking sound. Not human laughter.

The sound echoed unnaturally through the forest like chains dragging across gravestones.

"YOU STRUGGLE…"

The chain tightened further.

Arkady's knees bent slightly from the force crushing his throat.

"…LIKE EVERY OTHER DAMNED SOUL."

Arkady suddenly exploded with lightning.

Not bursts. A full detonation.

The forest lit up white as raw electricity erupted outward from his body in every direction.

Trees vaporized instantly from the discharge.

The force finally blasted Ghost Rider backward enough for Arkady to move.

He leapt upward violently.

High.

Far above the clearing.

The chain tore loose from his neck as he shot skyward trailing spirals of lightning behind him.

For a brief moment Ghost Rider remained suspended in the air beneath him.

Unsupported.

Then gravity pulled him downward.

Arkady looked down from above breathing heavily, burned marks still visible around his throat.

Even now they weren't healing correctly.

That excited him more than the pain itself.

Below him, Ghost Rider fell backward through smoke and rain.

Arkady grinned. Then his expression changed.

-Grin!

Because Ghost Rider wasn't flailing. Wasn't reacting.

The Rider simply stared upward. Waiting.

Then the chain moved.

Ghost Rider's arm snapped upward with impossible precision.

The burning chain shot through the air like a living spear.

Time itself seemed to slow for Arkady.

He saw every individual link twisting through the storm.

Too fast. Too accurate.

The chain wrapped around his torso viciously before he could evade.

Arkady's eyes widened again.

"...."

The other end remained firmly in Ghost Rider's grasp.

Then—Ghost Rider yanked.

Hard.

Arkady was violently ripped downward from the sky.

The air exploded around him as he was dragged directly toward the falling Rider at terrifying speed.

And Ghost Rider moved first.

His flaming boot slammed directly into Arkady's face.

The impact shattered the sound barrier.

Arkady's head snapped backward violently as sparks exploded from his skull instead of blood.

The force twisted his entire body downward.

Still bound tightly by the chain, he couldn't recover.

Couldn't redirect.

Ghost Rider controlled the descent completely.

Like an executioner guiding an axe.

As they plummeted, Ghost Rider twisted the chain once more—

Forcing Arkady upside down.

Face first toward the earth.

Arkady barely had time to register what was happening before they crashed.

The ground erupted.

A colossal shockwave tore outward through the forest as Arkady's face was driven directly into the earth with enough force to flatten the entire clearing.

Mud. Stone. Trees.

Everything exploded upward.

Ghost Rider landed atop him like a meteor wrapped in hellfire, chains tightening around Arkady's body as molten cracks spread outward beneath them.

For several seconds the forest disappeared beneath smoke and flying debris.

Then slowly—From inside the crater—That deep metallic laugh echoed again.

Not Arkady's. Ghost Rider's.

And beneath him—Arkady twitched once. Still alive.

The crater smoked beneath them like the mouth of an opened volcano.

Broken earth surrounded the impact zone in jagged rings stretching through the forest. Rain struck the burning ground and instantly vanished into steam, filling the air with thick white mist.

Arkady groaned.

For the first time since this fight began—His body refused to obey him properly.

He tried pushing upward.

Nothing.

Every movement sent violent pain tearing through him.

His limbs twitched unnaturally as electricity sparked weakly beneath his skin, struggling to rebuild the catastrophic damage from Ghost Rider's assault.

But the weight crushing him down—Would not move.

Ghost Rider knelt atop him like a burning executioner.

One skeletal hand gripped Arkady's shoulder hard enough to crack the ground beneath them while the Rider's chains coiled tightly around his body like restraining serpents.

Arkady could feel it now.

Not merely force. Judgment.

It pressed against his existence itself.

Heavy. Ancient. Absolute.

He coughed violently as sparks burst from his mouth and scattered across the mud.

"…Interesting…" he rasped weakly.

Ghost Rider slowly tilted his flaming skull downward.

The fires inside his eye sockets burned brighter as he stared directly into Arkady's face.

Then the Rider finally spoke.

The voice rolled across the crater like distant thunder from hell itself.

"REVEAL YOURSELF."

Arkady frowned in confusion.

"What?"

The flames intensified.

Chains tightened further around his body.

Arkady cried out as burning pressure dug deeper into him.

"THE THING INSIDE YOU."

Silence followed.

Then—Arkady's expression changed.

Not realization. Recognition.

Several strange patterns suddenly flickered across his pale skin.

Symbols. Dark. Ancient.

They appeared for brief moments before vanishing again beneath the electricity crawling across his body.

Ghost Rider noticed immediately.

The hellfire around him flared violently in response.

Arkady's breathing became uneven.

"…Ah."

His eyes widened slightly.

"So you sensed it too."

Then—The box burst open.

The sound exploded across the forest like rotten wood tearing apart from within.

Ghost Rider's burning gaze shifted instantly toward the shattered remains of the massive crate Arkady had carried into Forks.

Something moved inside.

No—Many things.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Dozens of pale hands suddenly extended outward from the broken box all at once.

Human hands. But wrong.

Too long. Too thin.

Their fingers bent backward unnaturally as they clawed desperately against the splintered wood trying to pull themselves free.

Then came the sound. A screech.

Loud enough to shake the forest itself.

It wasn't animal. Wasn't human.

The sound carried layers upon layers of voices screaming together in unbearable agony.

Birds erupted from distant trees miles away.

Biffer immediately backed away growling deeply, flames rising defensively along its skeletal body.

Even Arkady looked disturbed now.

Ghost Rider slowly stood from atop him.

Chains rattling. Hellfire roaring higher.

The shattered crate continued splitting apart from the inside as more hands forced their way out.

Some clawed blindly at the dirt.

Others grabbed each other.

Pulling. Crawling.

Desperate to emerge.

The screeching intensified.

And through the broken wood—Something moved beneath the pile of grasping limbs.

A face.

Almost human.

But stitched together from mismatched flesh.

Too many eyes opening at once.

Too many mouths twitching beneath stretched skin.

Arkady slowly sat up behind Ghost Rider despite the pain consuming his body.

Electricity flickered weakly around him.

Then he smiled nervously for the first time.

"…Well,"

He admitted quietly.

"That escaped faster than expected."

Ghost Rider turned his burning skull toward him slowly.

The flames darkened.

The chains around his arms tightened.

Then his voice thundered across the burning forest once more.

"WHAT HAVE YOU BROUGHT INTO THIS TOWN?"
