The giant wolf remained trapped within the remnants of the frozen lotus, howling in agony as flames and ice battled across its body. The sound reverberated throughout the cavern like the roar of a wounded king.
"Now what?" she asked.
For the first time since the battle began, uncertainty was visible in her eyes. Kelly stared at the struggling monster. His vision was blurry. Every breath felt like swallowing broken glass. His body was at its limit. Blood dripped from countless wounds, and merely standing upright required all the strength he had left. After a long moment, he spoke.
"Now..."
He took a shaky breath.
"We run."
Kei blinked.
