Anne Sutton froze, looking at the man beside her in disbelief. 'What did he just say?'
'He said he's planning to marry me?'
'Doesn't he have a wife and kids?'
Charles Prescott said, "You must be joking, Mr. Linden. What if my aunt takes you seriously? She is my uncle Nathan Fawcett's wife. Although my uncle has passed away, they were very much in love. I would advise you to be a little more sensible, Mr. Linden."
Hearing Charles Prescott's words, Nathan Fawcett replied, "Thank you for the reminder, Mr. Prescott, but... I like her very much. You said it yourself—your uncle has passed away. He's been gone for several years. Anne can't be expected to remain a widow for him her entire life, can she?"
Charles Prescott stared at Mr. Linden in disbelief. 'Does he really not mind that Anne Sutton is a widow?'
'Wouldn't he be completely humiliated if he married a widow?'
