Mrs. Sutton looked at Anne and said, "Sharon, see your sister out."
Seeing her mother in this state, Anne sighed. She wanted to say more, but Sharon pulled her outside. "Mom's been through enough today. Let's go out for now! We can talk about the divorce later."
"How can we talk about it later? I can't stand it for another second."
Sharon said, "Mom's worried about you too; she doesn't want this to affect your work. And you saw how Dad acted—he has no intention of divorcing Mom! Just let her think about it. They've been married for so many years. If this marriage is really going to end, she needs time to process it."
Anne looked at Sharon and said, "Fine! Just comfort her, okay? We'll bring this up again after she's had a couple of days to rest."
She admitted to herself that she had been too hasty, forgetting that her mother had only just learned the news. Of course her mother was in a terrible state right now.
