He placed some food on Anne Sutton's plate and asked, "How's the food?"
Anne Sutton nodded. "Mm-hmm."
"How does it compare to last night's dinner?"
Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett and laughed. "Today's is better. Happy now?"
'This man and his competitive streak!'
Nathan Fawcett said, "As long as you like it. From now on, whatever you want to eat, I'll have someone make it for you."
"Then what about you?" Anne Sutton looked at Nathan Fawcett. "Don't you dislike food made by other people? If I don't cook for you, what will you eat?"
Nathan Fawcett glanced at her hands. "I'll make do. I'll eat whatever you're eating. I can handle Westhaven Cuisine too. I can't let you cook for me anymore! If anyone's going to cook, it should be me cooking for you. I'll learn how, and then I'll cook for you."
Anne Sutton looked at this man who was so good at making empty promises. "If you're just doing this to compete with Justin Shields, there's really no need."
