"I'm fine," Mrs. Sutton said. "But what about you? How are you doing?"
Mrs. Sutton had been quite worried when she'd suddenly run off to Veridia.
Other than Sean Sutton, no one else knew why Anne Sutton had gone to Veridia.
No one knew that Anne Sutton had a child.
Charles Prescott didn't know either.
"I'm doing fine," Anne Sutton said.
Charles Prescott sat to one side, watching her. 'If it weren't for her family problems,' he thought, 'she probably wouldn't have even come back for the holidays.'
...
As they were eating, Anne Sutton glanced at Henry Underwood and asked, "Did Charles Prescott have you come back?"
Henry Underwood looked embarrassed when Anne Sutton turned to him. He lowered his head and said, "I wanted to come back myself! I couldn't handle the hardship at the branch office, so I begged President Prescott, and he let me return."
Of course, he wasn't going to put all the blame on Charles Prescott.
