Chapter 11: Intriguing Announcements
Li Mei stepped inside the villa, her heart fluttering with a mix of nostalgia and anticipation. The familiar scent of her home enveloped her, and she couldn't help but smile as cherished memories washed over her. The grand entrance hall greeted her with its opulent chandeliers and marble floors, echoing the elegance of times gone by.
As Li Mei entered the grand villa, she was greeted by the butler, Mr. Huang, who stood at the entrance with a warm smile.
"Welcome back, Miss Li Mei," he said, bowing slightly as a sign of respect. "It's a pleasure to have you home."
Li Mei returned the smile, feeling a sense of comfort in Mr. Huang's presence. "Thank you, Mr. Huang. It's good to be back," she replied.
"I hope your journey was pleasant," Mr. Huang inquired, taking her luggage from her and instructing one of the staff to take it to her room.
"Yes, it was a smooth trip," Li Mei confirmed. "Thank you for arranging everything."
Mr. Huang nodded with a gracious smile. "You know you are always welcome here, Miss Li Mei. The house is not the same when you're away."
Li Mei appreciated his warm words, knowing that he had been an integral part of the household for many years. "It's good to be back with family," she said, her eyes reflecting a mix of nostalgia and joy.
As they walked through the elegant corridors, Mr. Huang inquired about Li Mei's work and the recent architectural workshop she had attended. Li Mei shared some highlights of the workshop, describing the projects presented and the excitement of being recognized for their team's design concept.
"Your family will be delighted to hear about your achievements," Mr. Huang said with a proud smile. "Your grandmother, in particular, will be overjoyed to see you."
Li Mei's heart swelled with affection at the mention of her beloved grandmother. "I'm looking forward to seeing her too," she said.
They reached Madame Liu's room, and Li Mei paused for a moment before entering. She felt a rush of emotions, a mixture of excitement and nerves, knowing she was about to reunite with her grandmother after a long time.
As she stepped into the room, Madame Liu's face lit up with joy. "Li Mei, my dear!" she exclaimed, reaching out her arms.
Li Mei rushed forward, enveloped in a warm embrace. "Grandmother, it's so good to see you," she said, her voice filled with love and gratitude.
"I've missed you, my dear," Madame Liu said, holding Li Mei at arm's length to look at her. "You've grown into such a remarkable young woman."
Li Mei blushed at the compliment. "Thank you, Grandmother. It's all thanks to your guidance and support."
The two of them settled into a cozy conversation, catching up on each other's lives. Li Mei shared her experiences from the workshop, and her grandmother listened with keen interest, her eyes shining with pride.
"Your talent and dedication never cease to amaze me," Madame Liu said affectionately, patting Li Mei's hand.
Li Mei smiled gratefully. "I couldn't have done it without you, Grandmother. Your love and encouragement have always been my strength."
Their conversation drifted to lighter topics, reminiscing about old family gatherings and cherished memories. As Li Mei looked around the room, she noticed the familiar decor and the touches of her grandmother's elegance that made the space feel warm and inviting.
After a while, Madame Liu's expression turned serious, and Li Mei's curiosity heightened. "Li Mei, my dear, I've gathered all the family members in the house. I have something important to announce," her grandmother said.
Li Mei's heart skipped a beat, wondering what news her grandmother had in store for the family. Despite the excitement, a sense of concern gnawed at her. However, her grandmother's reassuring touch on her face eased her worries momentarily.
"Whatever it is, Grandmother, I'm here for you," Li Mei said with determination.
Madame Liu smiled lovingly. "I know you are, my dear. Now, go and have a look around the house. It's been a while since you've been here. Take some time to relax and enjoy being home."
Li Mei nodded, respecting her grandmother's wish. "Thank you, Grandmother. I'll be back before the announcement," she said, her mind still curious about what was to come.
As she left her grandmother's room, Li Mei's thoughts were consumed by the impending announcement. Yet, the warmth and love of her family surrounded her, offering comfort and support in uncertain times. Determined to cherish the present moment, she decided to explore the familiar surroundings of her beloved family home.
The maids, who had known Li Mei since she was a child, bustled around her with warm greetings and polite inquiries about her well-being. Li Mei reciprocated their smiles and greetings, feeling grateful for the familiar faces and the sense of belonging they provided.
As she strolled through the villa, memories flooded her mind – laughter shared with her parents, the comforting aroma of her grandmother's cooking, and the joyous celebrations during festive seasons. It was as if each corner of the house held a piece of her history, weaving a tapestry of love, happiness, and cherished moments.
With each step, she embraced the memories that this house held, finding solace in the familiarity it provided. As she entered the living room, she noticed a well-tuned piano in the corner, evoking memories of her late grandfather, a passionate musician. She couldn't resist running her fingers over the keys, playing a soft melody that resonated through the room, bridging the gap between the past and the present.
Li Mei's heart felt full as she continued her journey through the house, exploring rooms that held stories of their own. The study, where she had spent countless hours immersed in books and drawing architectural sketches, reminded her of her love for the craft. The garden, lush and vibrant, echoed with laughter from her childhood days, playing hide-and-seek among the trees.
She made her way to the kitchen, where the head chef, Mrs. Chen, greeted her with a wide smile. The tantalizing aroma of freshly cooked meals filled the air, and Li Mei's stomach growled in response, reminding her that she had yet to eat breakfast.
"Welcome back, Miss Li Mei!" Mrs. Chen said warmly. "I've prepared some of your favorite dishes. I knew you'd be hungry after your journey."
Li Mei expressed her gratitude to Mrs. Chen, feeling touched by her thoughtfulness. They chatted amicably as Li Mei savored the delicious breakfast, a perfect blend of traditional flavors and contemporary twists.
After the satisfying meal, Li Mei retreated to her private sanctuary – her old room. It remained almost untouched, with its soft pastel colors, a desk filled with souvenirs and personal mementos, and a view of the serene garden below. Her heart swelled as she gazed out of the window, realizing how much this place meant to her.
As Li Mei settled into her room, her mind wandered to the conversation between her and her grandma. she was indulge in the thought of what grandma wanted to announce she was curious to know. But then she realised that she was very tired so she went to freshen up and then came back to room and then sat on her bed. She was smiling touching the fabric over her head. In her mind she was thinking it feels good to be back home. Then she decided to give a call to her friends , Xia and Wei to tell them that she had already arrived at her place.
In Zhang Wei's office, his assistant, Emily, nervously approached him with the news of Li Mei's sudden departure. "Sir, I just received a call from Li Mei's team," she began cautiously.
Zhang Wei looked up from his work, his expression stern. "What is it? Is there a problem with the project?" he asked, his voice tinged with irritation.
"No, sir, there's no problem with the project," Emily replied quickly. "It's just that Li Mei had to leave for her hometown urgently. Someone from her family called, and she had to go."
Zhang Wei's irritation grew, and he sighed deeply. "How can she be so irresponsible to not inform me beforehand?" he said, frustration evident in his tone.
"I understand your concern, sir," Emily said, trying to soothe him. "I will make sure to contact Li Mei and her team to know more about the situation and remind them to be punctual for work."
Zhang Wei nodded, but his face remained stern. "Yes, do that," he said firmly. "Tell them that this is not acceptable, and they need to prioritize their work commitments."
Emily bowed down respectfully. "I will convey your message, sir," she said before leaving his office.
As she returned to her cabin, Emily picked up her phone and dialed Xia's number. After a few rings, Xia answered the call. "Hello, Emily," Xia said cheerfully.
"Hello, Xia," Emily replied, trying to keep her voice steady. "I just spoke to Mr. Zhang Wei. He's quite upset about Li Mei's sudden departure and wants to remind you all to be punctual for work."
Xia's cheerful expression turned serious. "Oh, I see. Well, we didn't know about Li Mei's departure either. Someone from her family called her, and she had to leave urgently," she explained.
"I understand, Xia, but Mr. Zhang Wei is very particular about work commitments," Emily said. "Please make sure to inform him about any such situation in the future."
"We will, Emily," Xia assured her. "We hope everything is okay with Li Mei and her family."
After ending the call with Xia, Emily also informed Wei about the situation. Wei expressed his concern for Li Mei and hoped that everything would be fine with her.
Meanwhile, Xia and Wei shared their worries with each other. "I hope Li Mei and her family are okay," Xia said, her voice filled with concern.
"Yeah, it's just so unexpected," Wei added. "I hope she gets in touch with us soon and lets us know what's going on."
As the day progressed, both Xia and Wei couldn't shake off the uneasiness they felt about Li Mei's sudden departure. They continued to work on the project, but their minds were preoccupied with thoughts of their absent team leader.
As the evening approached, Xia and Wei decided to call it a day and hoped that Li Mei would get in touch soon. They knew that whatever the reason for her departure, their friend was strong and capable of handling any situation.
However, the uncertainty of the situation lingered in the air, and Xia and Wei couldn't help but feel anxious about what the future held for their project and their team. They could only wait and hope for Li Mei's return and an explanation for her sudden departure.
