Camilla could only sit and watch, completely slack jawed over how much Lord Elias could eat and drink. Plate after plate of food was delivered to the table by silent, grey clad servants. The marquis insisted on tasting everything served, while continuing his gloomy commentary without much pause.
Sarai sat there in grim silence, picking at her food and quietly sneering at her husband.
The meal had to eventually reach its end, after what felt like hours.
Camilla sighed inwardly in relief when Lord Michal finally announced that he would be retiring to his chambers to read and nap, as was his afternoon routine. With a bow and completely ignoring his own wife, he lumbered off.
As soon as the marquis had left the pavilion, William leaned over to purr in Camilla's ear. "A bit of rest sounds good, actually. Can you take a nap with me, wife?" He knew her dislike of sleeping in the middle of the day.
She turned to frown at him.
