Aiden suddenly looked at Nina, his eyes betraying a hint of confusion and helplessness.
"Nina, please don't give up on me?"
The cold look she had given him moments ago completely disarmed him. He didn't know what to do anymore.
Nina looked away. When had Aiden ever spoken to anyone in such a humble tone? She never imagined he would lower himself this far for her.
It would be a lie to say she was completely unmoved, but it wasn't enough to sway her despairing heart.
"Give me back my phone."
Aiden seemed to finally realize the fundamental conflict between them.
He had always wanted to keep her, but what she wanted most was to leave him.
Remembering her icy glare from before, Aiden deflated.
He returned Nina's phone to her and moved from the master bedroom into a guest room.
