Chapter 588 - Chapter 588: Sudden Introduction

"The heck was that??" Harvard questioned as soon as the voice was made, the trampling across the clay-like structures and flooring immediately made them raise their guard. Seeing such monsters burst through, even disregarding the Knight held hostage, would make them immediately trigger their fighting response. A flurry of stars from the Avian to bombard Jormungan, only being met by said stars consumed by Fenrir once it got close, channeling the energy and letting it loose, its eyes changing color to match the white light. The discharge from such an attack would later on be absorbed by Jormungan to store as much as possible, watching the chains quickly wrap around the serpent's body, taking it once more. It was a clear-cut synergy: One takes in as much energy as possible, the other lets it loose with its bites or excess, like a living cannon with constant ammunition.

The Knight was desperate to be free, even bashing its own hands into the rough scales of its body, before watching Harvard already snatch the Monsters' attacks and preparing a summoning, a green light visible in the Seal. He'd struggle more in his freedom, the constant roars from both sides deafening the speech, only the light being brighter acting as its indicator. Mechanical hands were appearing out, each one with a specific string wrapping neatly in such spindly fingers. Jormungan tried to snatch such strings and take it in for itself, only to be tethered and connected with Fenrir, resulting in the two accidentally colliding once more, the massive bite made against the World Eater's hand again. Such a shift to his side upon being bit again would allow Eustace to get a proper view of the beast, spindly in appearance with a massive thorax, like a humanoid spider, 10 limbs on each side, constantly working around a new, red thread.

A chance for him, if he knows what it can do.

He'd reach out to try and take one, but would be met instead with a bash by Applin's hammer, immediately sinking him deeper into the snake. A few sigils made by Zazel to create more hammers with Bethel made it harder and harder to focus, his mind slipping, his energy draining and absorbed into the World Eater. Fenrir would try to swoop around to the side and catch the Vampiress, but that, too, was halted. Solomon would let his shadow extend to Applin's during her reach around, letting it act as a trap to sink the Chain Breaker's legs and hold it, leaving it vulnerable for another tether and another clash with Jormungan. It became less of a fight and more of a slapstick routine the longer the two went at it, one in which Eustace failed to find funny in. He'd attempt the reach around again, but the World Eater decided to try and break the strings by forcing it to snap apart.

He'd toss Fenrir to the sky and let himself roll across the ground, crushing Eustace in the process, at the very least allowing him access to his blade again. Constantly rolled across the fake dirt and weak stone would start to annoy him further and further, though as he was about to reach such a tipping point, there was an opportunity for him. Immediately diving his blade into the ground, shifting it in a slight angle, it would allow Eustace to finally be unwedged. The red string, however, was quick to attach into the Knight of Shadows, connecting it towards the World Eater in the efforts of keeping them somewhat intact on each other. From this tether, he could see it. Beyond what he can see, he can visualize a moment where Jormungan is going to strike him next, or alternatively, one in which he would carry over the Serpent with his bare hands. As soon as he got on ground level, he'd lock in his legs and time himself to catch the Snake as it came down.

The weight behind Jormungan was immense, nearly devouring the Knight's hands in an effort to guarantee his own part of the path. Alas, Eustace was the first to take that chance, immediately carrying his body over and doing a piledriver, dunking the draconic snake into the clay ground and burying him within it, letting it dig through and consume parts of Kabanaska itself. It was here he was finally able to understand its main ability: Connections. Anything that Red Thread attached to, it would create an end result where they collide, where they are forced to meet. Had this been done against his blade or any other weapon, it was a guaranteed death. Harvard was intentionally holding back and trying to restrain the two to get answers, much like how he did against the Knight. "Mephisto! You got that!?" The child shouted, a small clicking noise emitting from the spindly hands, telling Eustace what's its name. He'd reach out and take another Red Thread, letting it fly and connect itself towards Fenrir, letting him charge ahead and see another vision, one in which the Chain Breaker can be left winded from such an impact.

WHAM!!!

An immediate spike across the Dog's body, aiming for its stomach, causing the beast to wheeze and hack as it failed to eat at the thread. If Eustace isn't able to succeed in besting the two alone, then he shall take ahold the responsibility and face them off with this guaranteed fate. He was even throwing his sword through the darkness to snatch at the threads before the children would be able to react and take advantage of, letting it see the liquid dark sink through and latch onto his silver armor like it was an IV Bag. They could see it in his golden eyes. He was determined to take ahold of the match as much as possible. "If you two are not going to see reason, then I shall take up the mantle and handle it personally. You kids focus on finding answers!" His declaration was sound, and despite the hesitation they had initially, they chose to let Eustace handle both beasts.
