Chapter 620 - Chapter 620: Perseverance

Focalor and Asmodeus immediately attacked in both water and fire, colliding them and creating a steam-like wave in the process, all to overwhelm and flood the Dhampir back as he tried to charge ahead, a way to force such stubbornness down. As they did such, they'd watch on as Mawkin charged ahead, quickly letting the straw open up his body, showcasing his way of adapting around the devils. By segmenting his straw in such small patterns, letting it course around in a path at his body, he'd be able to shift and carry over the attacks as if he was part of that environment. Zazel couldn't tell what was going on, but once he saw such steam head his way, a quick order from Eligos to pull him aside would let him dodge the new assault, amazed as he watched the steam began to curve and shift direction.

"How are you...?!" He wasn't able to finish his sentence, needing to be thrown by his Goetia as he watched it pick up speed, seeing the silhouette of the Dhampir carrying along the attack as he charged ahead, letting him see that the damage was still there, just minimized in order to secure such a strategy around him. He'd try to cast Crocell, mainly to see if he can shove the steam down with its water manipulation, letting it crash and pin his opponent into the clay-like earth. Even as if it worked, Mawkin merely pressured the steam to be around his arms and cut through the ground so he can dig across, blinking as he saw him adapting again to his movements. A few strikes made by Malthus to grab and bury him within the tunnels, yet each time it merely slashed through and caused small bumps to appear, a signal that the Goetia wasn't doing as much as it could. It was starting to be telling on how Mawkin operates.

He doesn't fight properly. He adapts alongside his opponent, whether inadvertently or on purpose. He was almost like Harvard in how he would try to worm his way for an opening using whatever was available to him, making him realize he never really fought the Card Magician himself. To have someone akin to him make such moves and power on as if nothing happened worries him, as he wondered how far would the Dhampir go to ensure he would have a clean hit. Such questions came through as soon as he felt a shift in the clay flooring, leaping up and setting up a sigil to act as a platform, watching as it bursts out like a wound and shoot a geyser of steam straight upwards. The pressure built within the ground must've been condensed and fired all at once, as he could feel his skin quickly sweating and boiling. While such heat wasn't a cause for concern, the fact he was blind meant he could be hit at any moment. He planted a sigil on him as he braced for a lariat straight across his skull, watching Mawkin be up behind and swing his arm, hurling the Royal Demon straight through a few houses, the last one collapsing atop of him.

Direct. One shot.

As Mawkin took a deep breath, wincing and struggling at the damage he had to sustain, stomping his foot down to showcase such distress, he'd smile to himself. Even with the pain he endured and would rather scream to the heavens for, he was able to push on and hit something out of his league. As he savors such a small victory and the ability to back up his words, he began to lose feeling from the pain. His smile brims brighter, until he starts to lose his vision and hearing as well. Such a smile dims once he realized Zazel planted a spell to null such senses.

BANG!!!

Immediate shot through his chest by Sabnock, a bullet that carved a large hole onto him, as the Royal Demon stumbled his way out of the wreckage. He'd pant as he spat blood, watching as the Dhampir would be put down, as well as the frustration of Wyvios from up above. "When I get up there, I'm making sure you're struck twice as hard for bringing bystanders in all of this!" He'd shout, as he'd try to fix himself through Eligos, tethering around him as tattoo-like markings to keep him from limping. As he got close to the castle, watching the King hide back, a strong step was heard in his side. Zazel turned his head, his eyes widening as he'd see Mawkin not only alive, but also with a visible hole, no heart to speak of.

"I didn't hear no bell, Zazel." Blood came down like a waterfall from the Dhampir's mouth, his eyes staring directly towards the demon.

"SERIOUSLY, HOW ARE YOU ALIVE AFTER THAT!? WHERE'S YOUR-" His voice raised as much as it lowered, watching as his arms began to pulse. He converted his heart into straw and injected it back into his system through his arms and shoulders. As his wounds regenerated slowly, it was clear he needed time to secure back his heart into place. Considering it is one of the most vital organs needed to survive, second only to the brain, the Royal Demon knew he wouldn't be able to sustain himself long whilst heartless. If he could push him over to such a brink while waiting for said heart to come back, he could be out of commission while preserving his life. He knew better than to potentially mess with someone that could be related to the King of Nihil, if he was telling the truth about his name. Something about what he said previously made him concerned regarding his fighting style earlier.

"...for his true chance to LIVE!"

What did he meant by 'chance to live'? The Devil set up two sigils as he watched Mawkin approach slowly, seeing him preserve as much energy as possible until he gets close and personal, getting Sabnock to set up another shot behind the Dhampir.
