The call came at the wrong time.
That was the first thought that crossed Tiania’s mind as her phone vibrated against the polished glass table in the middle of a conference room halfway across the world.
She had just finished presenting.
The room was filled with executives, humanitarian coordinators, and partners who had flown in from different countries to discuss the expansion of the children’s hospital initiative. Charts still glowed softly on the screen behind her. Her notes were neatly stacked in front of her. Edwin’s voice echoed faintly in her memory, steady, clear, confident.
She had done well.
She knew she had.
But none of that mattered the second she saw Henrick’s name flashing across her phone.
Once.
Twice.
Three times.
He never called repeatedly like that.
