The doctor said it was very likely the old lady had taken some kind of health supplement that was harmful to the body, and over the long term it would have adverse effects on liver and kidney function.
However, even so, the doctor still insisted that the old lady's current condition did not meet the criteria for surgery; she simply could not get on the operating table.
