Yuto sensor training continued as well. It took him 2 days to finally be able to sense the objects placed around him. But he kept it secret from Shin and gave a false report to Yamanaka Shin who was a bit disappointed by the progress, he sighed and thought, '9 days, while it ain't bad, it's not very good either. He probably won't be able to be an exceptional sensor. He also took notice of the other four who could sense on 8th, 9th, 11th, and 13th day respectively. Though with some training, they could be a decent one.
During training sessions, Shin would occasionally challenge Yuto and others by hiding his chakra signature or creating illusions to test their ability to differentiate between real and fake chakra readings. Yuto also learned to detect subtle changes and inconsistencies in chakra signatures, honing his skills to become a reliable and precise sensor.
As his chakra field expanded, Yuto felt a newfound sense of awareness. He could sense the presence of people and animals from a considerable distance, even when they were trying to remain hidden. During one training session, Shin introduced Yuto to the skill of measuring the amount of chakra in other ninjas within his chakra field. Yuto eagerly practiced this skill, quickly gaining proficiency in gauging the chakra levels of those around him.
However, Shin also warned Yuto not to rely solely on chakra measurements, as experienced ninjas could manipulate and hide their chakra to appear weaker than they truly were. To further strengthen his abilities, Shin taught Yuto how to conceal and fluctuate his chakra levels, a task that proved more challenging than expected.
During Takashi's brainwashing lecture, he employed his mastered art of faking attention to shift his focus to his chakra field. He compared the chakra levels of his classmates, realizing that his chakra reserves were quite impressive compared to others.
In particular, Yuto noticed that students from the Nara, Yamanaka, Kato, Hatake, Sarutobi, and Kurama clans had lower chakra levels, while those from the Hyuga, Akimichi, Inuzuka, Aburame, Senju, and Uchiha clans had more chakra.
Unexpectedly, he found that Shimura Nobu had the 5th highest chakra level in the class, which piqued his interest. Yuto speculated that the Danzo must have a unique training system for their children.
When Yuto measured Takashi's chakra, he realized that Takashi's and Shin's chakra reserves were very similar to each other. This revelation made him admire how becoming a sensor could provide valuable advantages.
After assessing other classes, he discovered that many students had pitifully low chakra levels, and he predicted that the majority of them might quit after being Genin.
A few weeks later when Yuto was practicing Observation Haki his sensing field expanded quickly and reached a 1 km radius he could sense everything in 1km within this radius from animals to plants, also when he unconsciously awakened this he could sense negative emotions from animals. But he cannot see the person or animal with any physical characteristics, but rather by their "aura", which is a mental image of a colored silhouette of them on a dark background. He then suddenly started laughing at how he activated one of the overpowered abilities and thought, 'YES, Now I don't have to be jealous of those eye bastards' but then his sensing field shrunk to 50m and recalled that in anime according to Charlotte Katakuri, Kenbunshoku Haki works best if the user is in a calm state. Kenbunshoku Haki works independently from the physical senses. This was proven through Kin'emon, after his body was split apart by Law, when his legs and torso acted independently, relying solely on Haki for guidance.
He then thought of advantages which were:
Presence Sensing: The most common usage of this Haki allows the user to sense the presence of others.
Strength Sensing: This application of Haki allows the user to measure the strength of the people whose presence they sense. This usage of Haki is useful in finding "powerful auras". Through this application, the user can easily locate powerful allies and avoid powerful enemies.
Emotion sensing: This variation of Kenbunshoku allows the user to sense and empathize with the emotions and nature of others.
Intent sensing: Another variant of Kenbunshoku Haki allows its user to sense another person's intent to act in the immediate future (especially through bloodlust/killing intent within combat), allowing them to predict what someone is going to do, usually seconds prior, in what resembles a pseudo-form of precognition.
Future sight: The user of this advanced level of Kenbunshoku Haki can see a precise mental image of what will happen in the next few seconds. The vision also allows the user to hear any words that will be spoken.
'In these, intent sensing is very useful because it can save me in dangerous situations, and let's not forget about emotion sensing which can be used to perceive lies and other emotions that is like mind reading now that old coot cannot manipulate me(😋). As for future sight, it is impossible for maybe in the future when I fight Madara it might unlock it.' Yuto thought while smirking.
Now for chakra sense, it is only useful to sense how much chakra they have as they cannot sense any who hide their chakra well but they can't escape now from OB haki.
That night ate 5 bowls of miso ramen from the Ichiraku shop and slept soundly.
The next day he woke with a terrible headache and thought, 'Ahh it's like my brain is having a hangover must be because of awakening observation haki. Today I should rest and let the brain adapt to it.'
A few days later, after ending with kenjutsu training he started practicing three basic techniques. Yuto thought, 'I've probably tried the substitution Jutsu over a thousand times. I'm still not able to reduce the hand signs needed for it. Honestly, jutsu is almost completely useless against ninjas if you have to make those hand signs. Even a random genin would be able to identify the jutsu and be on alert. Though I guess it might still work on normal bandits. Anyways, I guess I'll need a few more months to be able to reduce the number of hand signs needed. I should also reduce the time for observation haki training, I can practice it in specialization classes, and in that way, I can increase my time for practicing ninjutsu.
The months went on peacefully for Yuto. The physique kept improving due to the seal. He used to increase the pressure of the seal by 0.1% from time to time.
In the academy, Takashi started ninjutsu with the transformation technique. Yuto had experimented and found it easy to fake hand signs without molding his chakra. However, he felt that it was wasteful….
So he tried another trick. He started faking the first-hand sign, but while changing the hand sign to the second seal, he used to try to mold the chakra for the first seal without the aid of the first-hand sign. In this manner, he practiced doing that jutsus with one hand sign less.
As expected, Teru and Akira were the most talented in Ninjutsu. They competed for the top 2 spots. Nobu, no matter how hard he tried, only ranked 3rd. Other Uchiha, Senju, and the Aburame kid competed for ranks 4-6. Yuto ranked 10th in transformation jutsu, 7th in clone jutsu, and 8th in substitution jutsu.
Sometime around this time, the incident of Kumo trying to kidnap Hinata and the death of Hizashi happened. Both Kito and Yuki were very solemn the next day.
To properly measure his progress with body flicker jutsu, he bought a stopwatch. After 6 months, he was able to 400 meters away in less than 4 seconds. After that, he thought, 'My original plan was to start with elemental jutsu by now, but body flicker does have more applications I want to explore. Sigh, let's stick to it. Mastering body flicker to a high degree will be extremely essential later on.'
He continued with his body flicker training. By the time the exams for 2nd year were up, Fujin had managed to sustain his body flicker for 12.76 seconds and managed to cover 1.9km. He could also change the direction mid-way, though he couldn't do it very frequently, and could also perform flicker while in a forest and having to avoid running into a tree. He was extremely pleased with his progress.
Over at the academy, he had managed to reduce the hand signs required for transformation and clone jutsus by 1 and for substitution jutsu, he was close to reducing it by 2.
His chakra field had increased a lot during this year. Its radius had increased to 180 meters. Without the hand sign it reached 162 meters and while running at normal speed, it could reach 135 meters. His OB haki had grown to 1.25 km while concentrating, and without it reached 75 meters.
His chakra reserves too had grown exponentially. Physical training and meditation itself were a huge boost. On top of it, he had practiced Body flicker till he dropped daily. He had performed body flicker tens of thousands of times over the past 10 months.
His reserves now exceeded Akira's. On comparing it with the seniormost batch, he noticed that his reserves would be well above average in that class, probably entering the top 10. Only 2 students, probably from the Senju clam, can exceed him considerably. Even then, he was sure that in another year, he would surpass their current chakra level.
[A/N: I would like to clarify the shadow clone jutsu a bit. Shadow clone jutsu isn't a forbidden jutsu, it's merely a B-rank jutsu that Jounins can learn easily. In Naruto, it was shown that a Genin Konohamaru was able to perform Shadow clones and use Rasengan on one of the Pains. Even Kiba, while being a chunin, was able to perform a shadow clone. The jutsu in the forbidden scroll of sealing was the Multi Shadow clone jutsu. This is the one that Naruto spams and Kakashi had used to scare/bluff away Gato's thugs.
So I'll follow this pattern - someone with Genin level chakra can create 1-2 shadow clones, with chunin level chakra can create 3-5 shadow clones, and with a jounin level chakra can create more than 5 shadow clones.]
The increase in his chakra level could be seen, when he was finally able to burst the rubber ball, finally making progress in stage 2 or Rasengan training. However, he was only barely able to burst it. He still needed more chakra to be able to perform Rasengan.
His skill at throwing shurikens had increased too. He was now able to hit the board while running around and was also able to hit a moving board. To allow students to practice that, a board used to be suspended from a tree branch and moved. It worked like a pendulum.
However, he still struggled to hit a moving board while he was running himself. Yuto decided that after he managed to do that, he'll start practicing hitting his clones with shuriken as that would replicate battle scenarios even better.
His Kenjutsu had big improvement too as Makoto helped in correcting any error he had made in performing katas, footwork, and iai technique.
And soon, it was time for the 2nd year exams.
