Amelia took a deep breath, her gaze unwavering. "She isn't my subject, so I have no say. But if I did have a say then I would still say no."
The sultan snickered. "So your desire for our aid ends here. Seems this threat you speak of isn't that dire after all."
Eumhun frowned. She curled her hands into fists. "Trust me, it is."
"Eumhun," Noel said, sitting back down. He placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't give him the satisfaction."
She looked at him and sighed. "We need this alliance, though. My clan isn't what it used to be."
Noel shook his head. "You got all of Kuroriku to help you. And maybe we can convince one or two of our fellow Four Great Kingdoms. Taahid isn't even all that powerful, being a secondary power."
I almost laughed at this boy's ignorance. While it was true that Taahid wasn't as big as the Four Great Kingdoms, it had more djinn than each of the Four Great Kingdoms, allowing us to punch above our weight.
