Chapter 12 - 12. A Novel He Once Lived

***********

[Mystique Enchantress] is a historical fantasy romance novel set in a world brimming with magic—a realm where humans, mythical creatures, angels, gods, and demons coexist in a delicate balance.

The story begins at the prestigious LUMEN ACADEMY, an elite institution reserved for nobles and royalty. It is here that the novel's heroine, LORRAINE FOWLER, makes her entrance. As the only commoner to ever gain admission into the academy, she becomes an anomaly within a rigid social hierarchy.

Her acceptance is not without reason. Lorraine possesses a rare bloodline ability—one so extraordinary that it had long been considered a mere myth in historical records.

As her journey unfolds within the academy, she encounters six exceptional male leads. Each of them, in their own way, becomes entwined in her life, eventually falling for her. Together, they form the core of a romantic narrative set against a backdrop of magic, competition, and intrigue.

In short, it is the quintessential cliché—a commoner girl with extraordinary power surrounded by six devoted male leads in a reverse harem storyline.

...

.......

......…

Naturally, where there are heroes basking in admiration, there are also those who stand in opposition—the so-called "rivals."

Or more accurately… villains.

And his role in this cursed world?

A villain.

A minor one, at that.

'No—more like a disposable stepping stone for the real final boss. Tsk! Just thinking about my fate here is enough to make me sick… At this point, I wouldn't even mind becoming a true villain.'

In the original storyline, he was introduced as a minor antagonist attending Lumen Academy. His character was defined by mediocrity—a stain on the reputation of the Marquis Chevalier household.

He was branded as a disgrace, both within his family and across noble society.

A useless good-for-nothing.

'Tsk! I don't even know whether I should feel grateful or resentful toward the Higher Council for throwing me back into this world.'

And yet, there was one thing he could not deny.

They had sent him back to the age of fifteen.

At this point in time, he was merely the third young master of Marquis Chevalier—a nobody. Not yet the obsessive, lovesick fool who would spiral into becoming a villain.

That fate… had not taken hold of him yet.

Which meant—

Nothing had truly begun.

And if nothing had begun, then everything could still change.

There was still a chance for him to rewrite his path, to sever himself from the chains of this predetermined plot.

'But before anything else… I need to get out of here. I have to review the world plot again—and whatever memories I can still recall.'

He had no intention of wasting his time entertaining these people. The mere thought of enduring their presence any longer made him feel ill.

If he stayed, there was a high chance he might lose his restraint—and that would only make matters worse.

'I don't need more slander attached to my name. Tsk!'

With that thought in mind, he abruptly rose from his seat. The sudden movement caused the surrounding servants in the dining hall to tense, their attention immediately drawn toward him.

Not a single one of them dared to make a sound as they anxiously observed what he would do next—especially toward the servant still kneeling on the floor, her posture stiff with fear and anticipation.

"I'm full. I'll leave for now."

His voice was flat, devoid of any discernible emotion.

Without sparing a glance at his so-called family or waiting for their response, he turned and walked away, leaving the dining hall just as abruptly as he had stood. He did nothing to the servant who had offended him, nor did he acknowledge the murmurs that followed his departure.

To the onlookers, it only reinforced the same impression they had always held of him—that he was still the same useless, good-for-nothing third young master of the Marquis Chevalier household.

'I have no time to deal with her… not yet. Since she's already here, I might as well play my cards properly this time.'

His thoughts flowed coldly, calculated and deliberate.

'I was originally just a minor villain in this worldline… but becoming one for real doesn't bother me at all. After all… I've never claimed to be a saint.'

A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he continued down the long corridor. His figure gradually faded into the dim hallway, his presence dissolving into silence.

...…

LOCATION: DIMENSIONAL DEPARTMENT

CONFERENCE MEETING ROOM

"Reporting, Dimensional Traveler Eclipse has successfully entered the new worldline. However…. is this truly our only solution?"

The once-bustling conference room had long emptied, leaving behind only a single figure seated at the head of the table. Documents were scattered neatly before him, accompanied by a suspended 3D hologram displaying layered data.

When his assistant stepped forward to deliver the report, a faint breath of relief escaped him upon hearing the confirmation. Yet, that brief reprieve vanished as soon as her question followed.

Raven's expression hardened slightly.

"We have no other choice," he replied, his tone firm but weary. "His life is in immediate danger. More importantly, his soul energy is still unstable. If we hadn't intervened and deported him back to his original world, it would have shattered completely."

His assistant bit her lower lip, her hesitation evident. She knew the weight behind his words, and she also knew the history that made this situation far more complicated than it appeared.

"B–but, Sir Raven…" she began, forcing herself to speak despite the apprehension tightening her chest. "You, of all people, know Eclipse better than anyone. You know that—"

Raven raised his hand, signaling her to stop.

A quiet sigh followed.

"I am aware that my decision may appear inconsiderate," he admitted. "But I have no choice. Returning him to his original world is only temporary. Even if it means forcing him to relive fragments of his past… even if it reminds him of who he once was…"

His voice trailed off.

For a moment, silence filled the room as his gaze shifted toward the 3D hologram before him—Eclipse's personal data glowing faintly above the table.

"Do you really think I would send him back there without giving him any advantage?" Raven continued, his tone sharpening slightly. "You've been working with me for over a millennium now. You should know better than that, Kira."
