He really was waiting outside the gate.
Joanna had no doubt that if she didn't go out, Ashton Heath would really wait outside all night.
But Joanna couldn't let him wait outside all night.
"Mom, I need to go out for a bit."
She pulled her gaze back from the dark night outside the window, ready to go find Ashton Heath.
"You want to go out now?" Madam White checked the time and exclaimed in surprise, "It's so late, where are you going?"
"Ashton Heath is here." Joanna didn't hide anything from Madam White, "He's waiting for me outside. I have to go see him."
"So he was the one who sent you the message earlier?"
"Yes."
"This child." Madam White chuckled, "It's only been two days, and he can't help himself. I knew he would sneak over to see you, but I didn't expect him to lose control after only one day apart. That's a bit surprising to me."
It's always the women who cling to the men, rarely the other way around.
Her son-in-law was an exception, though.
