Chapter 6 - Age Of Saeculum: Rise Of Man - Chapter Six

West of town is the sheriff's station and police station. The schools are to the north of town, and to the west is the hospital. The town hall and DPS Office for the state troopers officers are on the south side. It is likely that there are also people there. As I drove, I thought about our cabin's location, the middle of a county. 'What determined whether people were here other than in these areas?' The hospital came into view ahead. Upon entering the emergency room parking lot, I noticed a lone patrol cruiser and a sheriff's cruiser. Unlike everywhere else, the hospital didn't look abandoned. An assortment of vehicles populated its parking lot. 'The staff's cars, as well as patients who arrived last night or stayed extended stays for medical reasons.'

The hospital in our town is smaller than those in larger cities, but it is by no means small. These towers stand like monoliths from miles away, but only on the mountain's north side. Pineford County Northwestern University and Medical Center's four colossal buildings tower over the landscape like immortal sentinels. The white sheen of concrete reflects the four suns slowly rising to the north. A skyline of four towers, each of which climbed thirteen floors and included 1.3 million square feet, served as an analogy for the new world we had entered. In a town with over twenty thousand inhabitants, this is not unexpected. In addition to the four main towers, the complex comprises eight six-story buildings with an attached seven-story emergency room complex encircling the four towers. As one of only five hospitals of this size in the county, it provides health care to the entire population.

Upon entering, I observe an officer talking to a person wearing a white uniform. 'As per tradition, nurses at this hospital wear vintage uniforms. A short Wednesday-style tight white dress, a pair of white pantyhose, and a pair of white heels. You would think they'd wear running shoes or something more comfortable, but the owner is old school. I can only imagine what each nurse wore under their clothes. She strictly adhered to old dress codes. Leighanne Wise, a charge nurse, was talking with Deputy Rhonda Orkan when I entered the ER. She is the daughter of Doctor Kelly Wise, the hospital's owner, the chief financial Officer, and a veteran city council member. Consequently, her older sister, Doctor Cynthia Wise, was probably also here. She turned her attention to me as I entered the emergency room. Ronda stood beside her and waved.

"Orkan sent me over to see what's what," I said, smiling at her.

"You're one of my old man's navy buddies?" Rhonda said, squinting her eyes, giving me a look over.

"Something like that. My father served with him, and so did I, once upon a time," I answered.

"Navy, you say? Does that mean you are here to do what?" Leighanne questioned.

"It means nothing other than I have a concern for the safety of the townspeople. Sheriff Orkan, at the moment, is short-handed. Anyone who can provide their skills to him should do so. That is what I am doing," I answered, looking from Rhonda to Leighanne.

There was something stunningly beautiful about both women. Rhonda is only a few years older than my sisters. She was a senior when they were freshmen. It just so happened the four of them were on the chess team, and that's how I knew of her. Of course, I only met her a few times before I went off to the military. Rhonda wore her ginger brunette hair in a tight bun with a few strands dangling around her face. The way she looks has a bit of fashion, but it's charming and classy, just like her father. She always maintained a professional air. However, that didn't hide her mother's many blessings. I couldn't help but notice that everything about her appearance hinted at a gorgeously feminine heartthrob capable of turning even the most indifferent person into a true admirer by the sheer power of her beauty. Rhonda inherited her mother's exquisite complexion and youthful appearance. A heart-shaped face and ocean-blue monolid eyes gave way to a long, slender nose whose upturned tip accentuated her puffy heart lips. The slight curve of her brunette eyebrows would bring a man's gaze back to her eyes. Her v-shaped jawline harmoniously complemented her round cheekbones and high cheekbones. Among her beauty marks, I noticed a small brown one above her right lip.

It was impossible to contain those enormous melons under her shirt as they threatened to burst at any moment. The overall curvaceousness of her silhouette feminine figure leaves no doubt that her body is beyond gorgeous. The uniform couldn't contain her shapely figure, and her body armor could not protect her torso. None of that seemed to bother her one bit. Rhonda had a soldier's presence about her, and I knew her looks only hid that prowess. She naturally had a slenderly statuesque figure in the form because of her mother's blessing. Her delicate thin waist curves out to broad hips and then back down into a pair of femininely fertile thick thighs leading to the end of a pair of long pencil-like athletic legs. There was a creamy look to the young deputy's porcelain pale skin. As I am standing beside the deputy, I have the privilege of admiring her round bubble butt that is amply bountiful and not excessively enormous, but is rounded and like a ripe peach. If I had to describe it mathematically, I would say, 'A perfect round bottom that a goddess would appreciate.'

"So, do you think our situation is grim?" Leighanne asked.

"I would lean toward grim if not a complete fubar situation. For obvious reasons," I said, trying not to sound grim, but I knew that's how my words came off.

"My god? That is… unnerving, to say the least," she said, turning away from Rhonda and me.

"Ms. Wise, we're doing everything we can to understand the situation, but as you know, it's serious," Rhonda added.

"I-I… I understand that. It's not every day you wake up to an unbelievable sunrise of two suns in the morning sky. It's even more unnatural when you discover two more suns. I don't know how we found ourselves here. We're not experiencing mass hallucinations or hysteria. I can tell you that. I can rule out the notion that we've all died and gone to hell as well. Everyone I have looked at is in perfect health," she said, turning back to us.

"Well… At least we have that going for us. We're not crazy, and this is happening. What we need to do now is to ensure everyone stays calm until we get a better understanding of this phenomenon," Rhonda said in a reassuring voice.

Leighanne ran her hands down her tight uniform. My sisters were around the same age as Leighanne. Kelly Wise, their mother, came around our cabin when I was a child. I only had her daughters a few times when I was a senior in high school. They were children back then, and the last time I saw them, Cynthia had blossomed into a young teenager. As she stood there, I acknowledged her beauty. She kept her golden-blonde hair in a tight bun, peeking out the back of her nurse's cap like the deputy beside her. Against the bright overhead lights, Leighanne's oval face and wide-set down-turned royal blue eyes stood out the most. Long checkmark eyebrows over her eyes only put more of a shining highlight on her eyes. A snub nose and upturned lips enhanced her inviting gaze. The shape of her face went flawlessly, with her slanted cheekbones and pointed jawline. This nurse's dress is a bit short, fitting more like a bodycon dress, and clings to her fantastic figure eight physique. There was a woman with a lovely slender waist and wide hips, with thick childbearing thighs that could support the birth of many children. A combination of natural selection or coincidence meant that any height would put her amongst any woman at the pinnacle of beauty. But it did not stop there as her sheer beauty went beyond that to her ballerina legs that would make anyone worship them. My eyes dwell on her well-endowed voluptuous breasts, granting her an oversized bust, mirrored by her broad hips and exceedingly bulbous round peach bottom.

"We should go upstairs. I am sure the others would like to meet you," Leighanne said.

"What's the situation here?" I asked.

"Follow me," Rhonda replied, turning to walk further into the emergency room.

The eerie silence in the ER is unsettling. Leighanne followed her with a slight smile and a hint of worry. Based on what my step dad told me, Rhonda is somewhat of a legend and a badass around here. Rhonda gave her dad a run for his money during her preteen and teen years. She's feisty, to say the least. Almost every girl and young person under thirty knows her. For women who are less confident, she is an intimidating figure. Because of my military background, I've grown accustomed to people with intimidating presences. Neither of us said much in the eerily quiet hallway as we made our way down the hallway. I would expect this place to be crowded even at this early hour of the day. Yet, there was an uncanny feeling in the air that brought anxiety and apprehension. The twin binary stars in the sky had a sense of impending doom to anyone who saw them. The long hallway echoed with the sounds of the three of us walking. Every door is closed with the lights off. A perpendicular intersection at the end of the hallway leads to the elevator. It is one of eight waiting areas.
