Ooh, sir has just come back. He is upstairs," the head maid answered quickly, bowing under Mrs. Gray's intense gaze.
"Call him down right now," Mrs. Gray commanded, stepping into the grand foyer with an air of absolute authority.
The moment she marched past, the maids tucked away around the corner couldn't help but lean in closer to whisper and gossip.
"I seriously can't imagine that a young, arrogant miss like Milly actually went crying and complained to our boss's mother just to get her way," one maid hissed under her breath.
"Our dark days are officially yet to come, darlings," another maid sighed, shaking her head. "If that woman moves in here, she'll turn this palace into a nightmare."
"I honestly pity our boss. Out of everyone in this city, he's the poorest one here today—having to deal with a forced headache like that," a third whispered sympathetically.
