Philip Shaw reached out and held her, lifting her from the wheelchair and placing her on the bed.
"Won't you be too bored being alone in the room?" he asked, half-squatting to face her.
Aldana Candi laughed, "Do you want me to go out and get a job?"
These past few days, with the Shaw Family's banquets, Ellen Candi had been sent away by Philip Shaw, leaving only Aldana as the outsider in the Shaw Family.
Philip Shaw looked at her face and muttered, "In your dreams."
He gradually calmed his nerves, the hair-raising feeling of fear finally dissipating, and he took the half-eaten sweet osmanthus cake from Aldana's hand, took a bite from the spot she had bitten, and asked, "Do you like it?"
"Why are you snatching mine?" Aldana glared at the remaining one-third of the pastry in Philip Shaw's hand. "Aren't there plenty more?"
