Ellen stood still, squinting slightly at Eric's departing figure, lost in thought.
She turned her head to Aldana and quickly brightened up, smiling as she walked over to loop her arm through Aldana's, squeezing onto the same chair with her, affectionately calling out, "Aldana."
Aldana looked up, her gaze landing on Ellen's face. Her beautiful, small face displayed a gentle smile. Ellen watched her face, feeling a familiar warmth. She stayed silent, only gently holding Aldana's arm and snuggling up to her. The warmth that emanated from the depths of their souls was still palpable despite the years apart. They were once nurtured in the same womb, a bond that nothing in the world could sever.
Philip Shaw soon finished cooking and came out with a bowl, seeing Ellen clinging to Aldana on the great armchair. He let out a displeased huff and set the bowl heavily on the table.
