Chapter 6 - Daniel

"Daniel please, I've tired numerous times…" He drowned her out, her voice reaching his sub-conscience again.

"I just need you to grant me access to my own estate."

Daniel drown off several words and then picked them up. Not entirely listening in on what ever the heiress was trying to say.

Daniel picked up his head for the paperwork in front of him and watched as Elizabeth pace in front of his desk. The chestnut mane of hair swinging through the air as she continue to protest with a tone of indentation. His concentration lost lost for the time being.

He threw back his head and pinch the bridge of his nose in resignation. He was prone to listen to her tantrums and long winded speeches that explained complete and utter nonsense. This time though it was more than a simple solution he could come up with to appease her.

"I would ask why Elizabeth but…"

"Danie.."

He promptly cut her off and continued with out giving her a chance to finish her sentence.

"This is something that has to take time to arrange and settle. There's legalization that needs to be addressed before I can even give the okay."

"I kno.."

"Further more how can I feel comfortable with you taking charge with…"

"Dan…"

Rising from his chair Daniel continued watching the heiress in front finally give him a break from incisive chatter. Who ever put her up to this latest idea was going to pay. What the hell did Elizabeth know about taking care of an estate.

Nothing at all.

"You have no clue the amount of work that has to be put…"

"All am asking is for."

Not being able to control it any longer Daniel slammed his hand on the wooden desk with enough force to quelled his rising anger.

His eyes catching Elizabeth jump suddenly. Her emerald eyes turning towards him and her face paling.

Daniel gritted his teeth, that was  not his intention but as of late Elizabeth has been acting out of sorts in ways he couldn't seem to rationalize even for his own damn self.

This came an about two weeks ago when one of the maids reported on Elizabeth dumping all the clothing she had just purchased not even a month ago.

In truth, Daniel didn't care. What ever she did with the money he gave her for her wardrobe were her business.

It was just the followup that became a nuisance to handle.

Instead of her making a mess of that, he was later inform that Elizabeth had insulted the tutor that she begged him to hire because the Rosalind chit had a world renown one and she wanted a better one.

Later that week the chief informed him he would not be cooking any longer in the Reeves residence because Miss Elizabeth Reeve went into the kitchen and let him know the his meals were too greasy and not at all in par with what she wanted to eat.

Daniel wished it stopped there but earlier today his own mother came to let him know how Elizabeth had rudely stood up and ended their lunch meal with out no explanation.

So now he had his own mother complaining to him on how disrespectful Elizabeth was and so forth.

Exhaling a large breathe he calmed himself down.

Elizabeth has always been a handful but not in this regard. Most of the time it was her saying things out of line. Mostly about him and some fantasy she had in her head.

"Listen, if you would like we can talk about it on a later date."

"No." Elizabeth voice was hushed, her eyes down casted towards her interlocked hands at her waist. Daniel felt a ping of emotion rise in his chest. Just as fast squashed it as he knew she had to faking it. Another of her stupid polys she picked up some where.

Gritting his teeth in irritation he continued.

"Like I said."

"I heard what you said count." Daniel froze, not expecting Elizabeth to raise her voice. " Seems like I heard too well, if you'll excuse me."

Daniel watched her turn around and walk out of his office, more confused when he caught himself following her out. When had he ever done such a thing?

Stopping midway and hearing the slam of his office door followed up by another door slamming.

Daniel curled his hands into fists. For the second time today he had to stifle the rising anger inside him.

Walking to the small bar he had to the side of his office. He grabbed a tumbler filled with amber liquid. Pouring himself some into a glass cup. He tossed it back.

Letting it burn down into the pit of his stomach. Making sure those pesky feelings that seem to be rising when ever Elizabeth was present as of late were smothered.

Like anger and confusion.

Looking out the large set of windows in behind his desk, his watched as carriage that brought Elizabeth over depart. Exiting the metal gate and towards her estate.

Thinking it's best to just let her be for the time being. Daniel turn back around and sat down.

Fully focusing on the documents in from of him. Once again tossing out Elizabeth from his thoughts.
