Meanwhile, on the island of St. Poplar, a brightly colored ship, crashed into the pier. The ship featured a massive figurehead shaped like a round, striped candy with a face and a small hat, perched atop. It had large masts and the ship was long.
On the ship, dozens of men stood. They all were wearing colour clothes. In front of the men, stood a wide-eyed man who had a bottle of grog in hand. He wore a dark captain's coat with fringed epaulettes over a light-colored waistcoat. He had two large, striped hard candies coming from his dark hair. Below his protruding belly and buck-toothed sneer, he wore striped leggings. He had a long, jagged cutlass on his other man.
"Captain Candy we are almost here," one man shouted.
Candy smiled. "Kill the men. Burn everything," the Captain roared. "This town is ours," he added.
"Yes Captain," they all shouted as the ship docked on the pier. Dozens of Candy Pirates stormed out.
The pirates moved forward. "Look there," one shouted. They spotted a group of fishermen trying to unload their catch.
The fisherman looked up. "What is going on?" he questioned.
At that moment, the pirate wearing bright polka-dotted trousers, swung a heavy mace into a fisherman's chest. The fisherman spat blood and went flying back. "Kill them all," the pirate said as he swung his heavy mace again and smashed the other fisherman. He also went flying back and crashed on the ground.
A few feet away, another pirate rushed forward. He held a serrated blade and swung it. He slashed the throat of a fruit vendor. "Take everything," one shouted.
"Yes," another pirate shouted back as he kicked a civilian. The civilian was sent flying back and crashed into a wall.
"Set everything alight," Candy shouted as he laughed.
"Yes Captain," a pirate shouted back. He was wearing green trousers. He had a burning bottle in his hand and threw it into the open window. The dry wood instantly caught on fire. There were plumes of black smoke being released from the fire.
"Burn it all," a pirate said as he looked at the burning building.
Nearby a woman screamed as she was dragged by her hair from a nearby storefront. Two pirates laughed as they hauled her toward their ship. "A fine prize for the hold," one jeered.
In the middle of the street a small boy stood paralyzed. He was sobbing as he reached for his fallen father. He watched his father get killed in front of him.
Without a shred of mercy, a pirate kicked the child squarely in the ribs. The boy was sent tumbling across the cobblestones. He was gasping for breath as the pirate didn't even bother to look back.
"That's it! More fire! More blood!" Captain Candy shouted.
From the roof, seven figures looked at the destruction. Lucci, Kaku, Fukurou, Blueno, Jabra, Kumadori and Nero looked at the pirates destroying the town.
"Who are they?" Kumadori questioned.
"They look like pirates," Fukurou replied as he watched a pirate slash a person.
"We should stop them," Kaku said.
"Lucci you should sit this one out," Jabra joked. "You might get hurt again," he added.
Lucci looked at him. His eyes narrowed. He then looked at a pirate. "Take them all out," he ordered as his hands were in his pocket.
Kaku, Fukurou, Blueno, Kumadori and Nero all nodded and jumped down.
"Why are you the leader?" Jabra questioned as he jumped down.
Kaku looked at a group of pirates running towards several women and children."Storm Leg," Kaku said as he swung his leg with such velocity that a vacuum blade of air tore through the central street. The blade of air hit the group of pirates and cut them. There was blood leaking from their wounds as they collapsed. Kaku landed on his feet. "Get inside," he shouted.
"Shave Iron Ball," Fukurou said as he unzipped his mouth. He hardened his body and turned it into a ball. He came down and crushed a group of pirates underneath him. He crushed their bones as he slammed with force. The pirates flattened and they spat blood as their bodies hit the ground.
Nero landed on the ground. He saw several pirates with flaming bottles in their hands. "Why do I have to deal with these scum?" he asked himself. "Storm Leg, Line," Nero said as he stomped down with force and blasted the air straight ahead in a concentrated line toward the pirates. The compressed air hit the pirates. They were knocked off their feet and were sent flying back. They crashed into the ground and spat blood. "Paethic," he added.
"Iron Body," Blueno stood like an iron pillar in front of a group of cowering children. A pirate swung a heavy spiked mace at his head. The weapon hit Blueno and it shattered on impact. The iron spikes flattened against Blueno's skull.
"What are you?" the pirate said as he looked at his shattered weapon.
Blueno looked at the pirate. He swung his fist and punched the pirate in the stomach.
The pirate got hit in the stomach and felt his bone crack. He spat blood and collapsed to the ground.
Jabra saw two pirates dragging a beautiful woman. "You scum," he said as he jumped forward. Jabra swung his foot and kicked the pirate in the face. Jabra broke his teeth. The pirate was sent flying back and he crashed into a wall.
"You will pay for that," the second pirate said.
Jabra grabbed the pirate's head and slammed him into a nearby wall. The pirate`s skull broke as he was slammed into the wall. Jabra then let go and the pirate dropped to the ground.
The survivors of the Candy Pirates began to scramble back toward their ship. "What are you?! You aren't Marines," one shouted.
Rob Lucci jumped down. He looked to see the pirate going down one by one.
"You will die," Captain Candy lunged at him. He swung a massive candy-cane-shaped axe at Lucci.
Lucci didn't even flinch. He leaned his head an inch to the left and the blade whistled past his ear.
"Finger Pistol," Lucci said as he pulled his index finger and penetrated his shoulder. Blood came leaking from his wound.
The man staggered as he coughed up blood.
Lucci smiled."Finger Pistol," Lucci said once more as he pulled his index finger and penetrated his other shoulder. Blood came leaking from his wound.
"Ahhh," the pirate screamed in pain as he dropped to the ground.
Lucci saw he was rolling on the ground. "You are a waste of oxygen," Lucci said as he stomped on the Captain`s head. He cracked his skull. "Just a waste of oxygen," he added as he kicked the Captain again in the chest.
"Lucci," Kaku called out. "He is gone," he added as he looked at the lifeless body of the Captain.
Lucci had a smile on his face. It was a twisted smile.
The townspeople of St. Poplar stared in absolute, paralyzing horror. "You, you're monsters," someone whispered.
Nero looked around. "We saved them, and yet they look at us like we're the ones who burned their homes," he remarked.
"They are terrified of us," Kaky noted.
"It doesn't matter," Lucci said. He looked at the blood on his hands and then at his pigeon, Hattori, who landed back on his shoulder. "We are what we are. Justice doesn't require anyone`s approval," he added.
Jabra spat on the pirate captain's corpse. "The Marines will be here soon. We can't stay. They're still hunting us for the failure at Enies Lobby," he added.
"Those Marines," Kumadori remarked.
Fukurou unzipped his mouth. "There is a ship there," he suggested.
"Let us take their ship," Lucci said.
Lucci, Kaku, Fukurou, Jabra, Kumadori and Nero all nodded and headed to the Candy Pirates` ship. Blueno looked around and thought it was nice to be normal.
