The SIT cornered Srinivasan at the edge of the city's highest cliff. The sirens drowned out the sound of the wind.
"I did it for her!" Srinivasan—Sreenu—bellowed, his eyes wild with a mixture of love and madness. He confessed to the serial killings. He admitted he targeted his patients because they reminded him of the "purity" Druvi lost.
"Where is she, Sreenu?" Vikram Aditya demanded, gun leveled.
"She's in the only place where she can be safe," Sreenu cried. He revealed that he had found Druvi's body in the bungalow three years ago. He couldn't bear to let the police handle her or to see her "burned to ash." He had carried her to a secret garden, burying her deep beneath the earth where he could visit her and mourn the woman who had saved him from his own childhood trauma.
Athira stepped forward. Her eyes weren't filled with the grief the team expected—they were cold. "You should have stayed in the shadows, Sreenu." With a sudden, forceful shove, she sent him over the edge.
"He was resisting!" she told the horrified SIT. "He was going to jump anyway!"
